No plan to cover langkawi.

I will prefer to go there with better half, not with friends.

By now, everyone is set to go.

A small query,
3 guys out of 15 have ECR stamp on their passport.
ECR stamp could not be removed immediately due to hitch up at paperwork.
The passport officer and immigration officer at Mumbai airport suggested that, at airport , while leaving the country, show your return ticket to immigration officer and he will stamp temporary ECNR valid for 30 days. Is it correct and practical?
we do not want to take any risk as Sam [yetibaba] had faced similar problem while going to Malaysia in 2007 for f1 race.

Same thread also mentions ECR/ECNR to be a non-issue.

Hey Ashish, have a happy trip, you can get fake watches by the dozen at Sri Petaling street, a bit of caution as the hawkers can get quite rude while bargaining.

For souvenirs go to China town or Bugis street in Singapore for some nice looking oriental handicrafts.

China town is the place. You'd find it. They are called Authentic replicas and not fakes.
I bought an Authentic replica of Brietling there which is going strong after 5 years still. You can bargain real hard there. The moment they look at tourtist who look lost, they ask for atleast 10 times the price. So if they say 1000 ringgits, you ask for 100. Don't know what's the current prices go like. But the ratio should hold good.
My brietling replica costed me 2800 INR in converted rupees. The china town area is near the triangle, close to KLCC. You can walk asking for directions.
In Singapore, you'd get good souvenirs near chinatown and little india. Get magnets to stick on refridgerators and t-shirts. The most famous t-shirt there is Singapore is a FINE city t-shirt! There's a lot of merlion stuff you can pick up too.
Can't bargain much in singapore. It's more regulated there.

Mustaffa is a hype IMHO. Every indian tourist flocks as though it's the mecca of shopping. I'd go to mustafa only to exchange USD to SGD where I get the best exch rates. What exactly are you looking to shop at Mustafa?
Also remember as a tourist, you are entitled to get back the tax amount you've paid in purchasing at the airport. So get those forms filled and stamped at which ever shop you shop at. Most of them have min amount for the tax refund.
And Little India offers good restaurants. If you are a non-veg person there's a wonderful hotel called Anjappar (indian chettinad). Highly recommended. Else go over to Jumbo at Clark Quay which offers wonderful sea food singapore style.
If you want to relish Indian veg, then Komala vilas is the best. Komalas is their fast food. Komalavilas gives you the charm of unlimited south indian thali served on Banana leaf at great prices!
If you want upmarket shopping experience, go over to Orchard road.
I hear now that Singapore has universal studios. You may want to rethink the number of days you spend in singapore. Not sure about Universal Singapore. But back in florida, I had an annual pass and used to spend almost every alternate weekend there!

Scratched my memory a bit. Petaling Street is the place in KL where you get those replicas. Bargain hard. Walk away if they don't reduce prices. I'm sure with the economic crisis, they'd sell at any rate!

The Singapore universal studios is still not fully operational for public. They had a soft launch for Chinese new year where people were allowed inside but no rides.
They are saying 'early march' but no final dates of operation for poblic as yet.

If you want to go to Mustafa, the best time is to visit late evening / night
Avoid going there on weekends,

During evenings 7 PM to 9 PM, it is very difficult to get Taxi at Little India
avoid these timings

Regarding taxis, there are two ways. You can wait in the queue or call for a taxi. They'd send one which ever is free and near. You call a taxi you pay I guess 2 sgd more (5 - 6 years back). They'd tell you the taxi number immediately on the call.
You want to travel in style, call the benz taxi. It costs 4 sgd more for booking over phone. You get a swanky benz taxi at your footstep. They'd tell you the wait time and the cab number for both. Don't know the current prices for calling taxis. But it's worth spending 2 -5 dollars more for avoiding the queue.

The only thing about mustafa is that it's open 24/7. So if you have nothing to do at 3 am, you may drop by. If there's nothing to shop in mind in Mustafa, it's frankly a time waste.

why dont you guys hit the singapore flyer - its awesome i was there on the 10th - the views are to die for and its on the edge of the singapore f1 circuit - when you enter the flyer you can see the circuit from around 100 ft up - and then the views improve as you go higher and higher - its around 40 mins for the full ride - you can see all the nearby islands and its wicked.
also since you are hitting clarke quay - there is an option to cut the tickets for the flyer from clarke quay - you get the benefit of a free ferry ride of 15 mins with commentary - which is sweet . the full ride is an hour but 15 mins is wicked. its near the free bungee ride @ clarke quay near the cafes and restaurants (side of the river).

for fake watches - in kuala lumpur
Masjid Jamek LRT station - get down here and there is a street bazaar where you will see lots of small stalls with all the *real* fakes you need
u can take the LRT ride and its 2 stations from KL Sentral

have a blast!!
