From Vashi / Koperkhairane, you can reach Nashik in 3 hours even after leaving by 8 am or so.

I did this trip on 22 March 2024 and it took me 3 hours 15 mins to reach Indiranagar from CBD Belapur.

Start time will depend on where you live.
Our aim is to generally reach Starbucks Shahpur by 0730am, latest by 0800am.
We are generally in Nashik in 4hrs.

It is a relief hearing that. It has takes me more than 4.30 hours on occasions to just reach Igatpuri. I will start early this time. I am leaving from Chembur.

Incase you leave after 6 am, try to go from Kalyan. It seems a bad idea, but you will actually clear it faster incase there are blocks in Thane and Bhiwandi. From Vashi / Koperkhairane, you can reach Nashik in 3 hours even after leaving by 8 am or so.

This is a revelation, I should try this route for my next trip.

I did the trip on 04th March 2024. Started from Chembur at 6 AM and passed through Kalyan section of NH160 without encountering much traffic. However, got stuck in heavy traffic from Kharadi (approx 15 kms before Kasara). More or less crawling in the traffic till I reached Samruddhi Entry point at Igatpuri.

Took me in total 4 hours including 45 minutes breakfast halt. It is not bad comparing with few of my previous experiences!

Follow up question: Any pointers on what is the best time/strategy to get into Mumbai for my return journey?

If our return is on a weekday, We usually plan our start from Deolali late in the evening, at about 7ish.
Idea is to reach Ghodbunder Road by 10 PM, and after the city traffic subsides (and truck movements start), we're in Borivali by 11.30ish.

If it's a Sunday return, we usually start by 4.30 - 5.00 PM, and are at Borivali by 10 PM.

Since you were in chembur, even the routine thane - bhiwandi route would have been similar. Always check GMaps and decide accordingly. Also note that any jams shown by google say +15min will usually be +25-30 easily.

We generally prefer to leave in afternoon around 1230-1pm post lunch or if earlier we have lunch at igatpuri. That way most heavy vehciles are on side and if you exit bhiwandi around 3-4pm you are safe.

Travelled to Igatpuri and back. Many diversions, potholes and traffic! Would say the last third of the way, towards Igatpuri, had decent winding roads, and minimal traffic.

I stuck in 5-hour Atgaon-Navi Mumbai drive on June 30th. Poor roadwork & heavy traffic caused chaos. No traffic management!

The Mumbai Nashik route had construction going on since some time now. When I went on this route in May, I was stuck in traffic for good two hours. There was some news regarding construction activity on this route.

Finally some respite - Starting last week of August, commuters travelling between Mumbai and Nashik, and beyond, will have a new, faster alternative route with the opening of the Samruddhi Mahamarg’s remaining stretch of 76 km from Igatpuri to Amane in Thane

Just travelled to Nashik from Mumbai for my mom's chemo. With the rains this road has become a MONSTER.

We left at 5 o clock and reached Nashik at 10:45. What terrible traffic till Bhiwandi Bypass with diversions and some more traffic jams where bridges are built ahead. The side roads you take where bridges are built is so bad, its a 1-2kmph road.

After that the highways have such humongous potholes that even with the Crysta if I went into one, it would mean destruction of the suspension.

Please travel only during the day and with atmost caution for the potholes, low slung sedans and low profile tyre guys CANNOT miss them at any cost.

I think I spoke too soon. Average time now has increased to minimum of 4 hours. The roadwork and rains have made it a pain to commute, especially till before the Kasara Ghat section.

Absolutely.

Family took the commute around 10 days back and was told to expect minimum of 4.5hrs towards nashik - majority issues before the ghat

Kucch bhi karr lo, hum nahi sudhrenge!!!!

Hi All,

I am planning to travel from Mumbai (Kashimira) to Nashik Trimbakeshwar Temple on 23rd early morning. Google says 158 KM in 3hr 50min. Is this doable if I leave say by 6 am?

From Nashik to Shirdi Google says 123 Kms and 2hr 40 mins. Anybody travelled in this route recently who could confirm if this is doable please.

2 imminent issues with the Manor - Nashik route -

1. The ongoing construction on NH48 from Vasai upto Palghar is being done in a haphazard manner. You may never know where would you get stuck and that may take considerable time from your planned schedule.
A month back, we had started from Borivli at 7 AM, and we crossed Manor at 11 AM on our way to Daman - a 4 hour ordeal on ~70 kms from my door.

2. The Manor - Wada stretch is a single lane highway. Can't comment on the road surface at this point as I haven't been on the highway recently..but general knowledge says the highway is potholed ridden during Monsoons - plus a lot of truck traffic trying to bypass Mumbai.

I'd still stick to the good 'ol Ghodbunder Road - Thane - Bhiwandi - Kasara Ghat - Nashik route, which is also not too in the best of it's condition, but still, a known devil is better than an unknown angel :)
