so u're on the way now eh? nevertheless, you've chosen the best route from CHN-BLR and on reaching BLR, its easy to get to Mysore road using the NICE road you get 15 kms (or so) after getting in karnataka. take a left on NICE road which takes you directly to Mysore road.

Hey geeash, there are many places in Bangalore and Mysore for sight seeing which will make your trip worthwhile. Apart from sight seeing you can do loads of shopping here in Bangalore. There are many shopping malls and also the famous Brigade road and Commercial street.

Check the following links to get to know all the sight seeing places

V I R T U A L B A N G A L O R E . C O M - Bangalore: Tourism

Mysore | Mysuru | Brindavan Gardens | Mysore Palace - Karnataka.com

Hope this helps

Your route from Chennai to Bangalore is perfect. Watch out for waterlogging around Vellore. Be very very careful if it is raining.

Slow down at the Pachakuppam and Vaniyambadi railway overbridges.

Where is your final destination in Bangalore? Remember that with a 1 pm start, you will hit Hosur Road at around 6 pm and get stuck in evening traffic.

Depending on your destination, we may be able to guide you better to avoid the mess that is Bangalore traffic.

OK Koramangala means you're better off sticking to Hosur Road all the way even if it means battling rush hour traffic.

After you cross the Silk Board flyover (the only one on Hosur Road), you will see Total Mall on your right. Take the first right at the signal after this and you'll get onto the Inner Ring Road - the second signal on the IRR is Sony World (RHS).

With a 1 pm start from Chennai, you'll be at Electronics City by around 5 pm if you're fast.

I am watching this thread with interest. I have tentatively planned the same trip for my son's Dusserah vacation. My destination at Bangalore will be our company guest house on Ulsoor road.

Then you can just drive straight from what hrag has mentioned. In the signal where you have the Sony world on RHS, just keep driving straight. It would take you to the Indiranagar 100ft road through IRR.

But the need to take the left after you see some bad roads and bridge construction.

The other best bet is to take the attibele-varthur-whitefield. Then at the hope farm junction, take left and keep driving straight till you get to the Indiranagar RTO (on left). Then depending on where in Ulsoor, can decide to take right or straight

Hey geeash,

Welcome to Bangalore. The road to Bangalore is awesome and should take you about 5-6 hours depending on the amount of stops. I only wish that you were starting earlier, traffic near electronic city at 6 pm is a pain. Getting to koramangala from here should take you about an hour.

For your trip to Mysore you can also use the regular Bangalore-Mysore highway. Here too I would suggest an early start as you will get stuck in traffic till you hit Rajarajeshwari Nagar (you will not miss the huge temple arch on the left)

So to get to the Mysore highway you will have to back track to the silk board and drive into BTM layout. Head straight on this road past Jayadeva Institue of cardiology, Big Bazar (will come on your right at Jayanagar 9th block). Find your way into Banashankari 2nd stage (ask for the BDA complex), from there you will find sign boards directing you to Mysore Road. Unfortunately the outer ring road which will take you to mysore road is dug up in JP nagar or this would have saved you about 15-20 mins in traffic. Once you hit Mysore road it will take you about 90 mins to get there. Do stop for some nice hot coffee and maddur vadas in Maddur, you can also stop at chennapatana and pick up some of the famous wood carft work.

You can make a detour to Srirangapatana closer to mysore and see Tipu's fort, not sure how the approach is though and I beleive the fort is in pretty bad shape as well.

In mysore do visit planet x if you are a karting fan.

Enjoy your trip.

@mjothi
Thanks. I will find my way from Indira Nagar, no problem. This guest house is located on Ulsoor road, which is parallel to MG road. Manipal centre is a stone's throw away from this place.

I have lived at Bangy for five years from 2000 - 2005 and know the topography. The only confusion will be about diversions/one way introduced since I left. During the entire duration I travelled Chennai -B'lore only once by road, that too by bus. So I was not sure about the route from Hosur to Indira Nagar.

Will I be better off if I take Old Madras Road for entering Ulsoor directly? Is this the Chittoor route?

though chittoor/Old Madras route will directly take you to Ulsoor, this route is a pain to drive presently because of the 4 laning work in progress. Also, you will be struck behind some lorries as you will not get any chance to overtake because of the oncoming traffic. Stick to the vellore/hosur route.

Travelled by KSRTC volvo last weekend and it took around 2.5 hrs from Mulbagal to KR Puram.

best way to go to indranagar from hosur road is to take the right in the signal aft ertotal mall as hrag as suggestedf and then take the right at koramangala 80ft road and head straight on the road where oasis mall is located and climb the fly over.

My trip was great guys thanks for the info. i learnt the topography a lot on these 3 days tour.

so bangloreans how is my direction capabilities?
