re: A thread on Accommodation & Rates

Any recommendations for hotels in Mysore nearby railway station. Budget is around 2K. I'll not be driving this time around, so car parking is not a requirement. However 24hr checkout is (that's why Ginger is ruled out).

BTW it is for 3 adults.

Pai Vista is a good place.Mysore is a small place so there is really no distinction between "near the railway station" and "in the town".Almost all the hotels are cluttered up in the same location of in and around the palace and near the Ooty road and Nazarabad.Hotel Siddhartha is also an ok place.

re: A thread on Accommodation & Rates

I need a hotel room in Mysore, in the range of 2000/- per day, that is within a walking distance from the Palace.

Car parking is required.

Room to not be cramped.

Loo to be clean. AC does not matter as the weather in Mysore should be fine in October.

Guidance please.

Thanks in advance.

I regularly stay in Park Lane which is on Harsha road which is just diagonally across Mysore Palace and would highly recommend it for a comfortable stay, booking it is very easy on the internet too, check it out here - http://www.parklanemysore.com/

It is a little noisy over the weekends at its restaurant is one of the happening places in Mysore but the noise does not filter into the rooms not are the guest inconvenienced. Only problem here is parking space is very limited, and you might have to park in front of the hotel.

You can also try Hotel Siddhartha or Ramanashree, both very close to the palace too.

Any suggestions on stay options in Lakshwadeep. Any more details about it is good. Do not want to opt for the Ship journey/Stay in Ship options.

Location wise it is very good - in the town right next to Rajah's seat.
Property is very spacious with lots of parking in front. Food is decent.
When I visited in 2010 the rooms were renovated and good.
However, in the evenings, the KSTDC buses reached there with a lot of guests (part of a package tour) and the restaurant was simply overloaded from 8 to 11pm and there was no room service

re: A thread on Accommodation & Rates

Folks,

I am planning a drive to Munnar along with family to spend the new year over there.

Please suggest some good resorts that has value for money, hygene, that has scenic views of nature and good food for a 3 nights package. We did visit Munnar 5 yrs ago but I guess there must have been many changes since then.

Looking forward to your inputs.

Cheers,
Kiran

Not much has changed in Munnar over the last 5years.My vote would be for Eastend Edassery http://eastend.in/eastendmunnar.html.

Bang in the middle of the town and yet very quiet.

@ranjitp1: Thank you for your inputs. I had a peep into their website and I guess they are good. Will call/write to them on the bookings soon.

Any other alternate options would be great as a standby incase the booking is not available.

Another question: Since I will be driving from Bangalore, which is the best scenic route to reach Munnar non-stop (with 1-2 short stop overs for breakfast and coffee). Planning to start from Bangalore around 4:30AM

Thanks,
Kiran

You could go via the Udumulpet-Chinnar-Munnar route and cone back via the Theni-Dindigul-Nh7-Salem route. This way you dont have to come back the way you went. Both routes are good and equally scenic. There is some widening work happening at Dindigul but nothing to worry about.430am departure should see you reaching Munnar by 1230.The Mcdonalds,A2B etc after wouldnt open until 630am iirc.Your safest bet would be Saravana Bhavan at Sankari or the expensive GRT at Salem.

re: A thread on Accommodation & Rates

Stayed at North Park, Vadagara on last 07th Sep'12. Rooms are neat, but costly considering their available facilities. The normal AC room is 2K+ Tax and Delux is 2.5K+tax (3K). Their parking is very limited, only 2 cars can park at a time and remining has to park in the NH side.
