Keys is a very good place and should be in your budget,an excellent one infact.Muthoot Plaza is another one.The other one that I could think of is SP Grand Days.

Edit:

Maurya Rajdhani is also a very good place.Bhpian Nairrk stayed there a couple of months back and reported it to be excellent.I guess his club room was priced at INR 2000.Hotel Pankaj is also an ok place. You could pm Nairrk for more details for contacts.

Sorry havent heard of Varikkat.

Iritty: Falcon Plaza
0490-2493-880

Decent hotel on Nerampokku Road. Ample parking, clean rooms. Attached restaurant. NO attached BAR, which is very important in Iritty. If you have stayed in any of the BAR attached hotels you'll know what I mean :-)

Regards
Rex

In fact it is just not reccomended to stay in any of the BAR-attached in hotels in Kerala. After 6 in the evening, the hotels turn into a nightmare.

OT:I liked the name Nerampokku road,is there a story attached to the name?Does it literally translate itself to 'timepass" road?

Re: A thread on Accomodation & Rates?

I frequently travel to Velankanni and was unable to find a good hotel which modern amenities in Velankanni . Most of the time I stay in Tanjore and take rest and then continue to Velakanni . The drive from Tanjore to Velankanni is approx 3 -4 hours.

My friends who had been to Velankanni had stayed in Clinton park which is a new hotel that is come up .They have given good reviews and feedbacks regarding this hotel , so posting it here for the benefits of others.

The hotel website

Good hotel to stay in Kumbakkonam (T.Nadu)

Can anyone help me with names and contact details of good hotels in Kumbakkonam? I need 2 rooms for 2 days for me and my family. THis is a religious trip and I will also require a vehicle for the whole day.

If anyone can help with the details, it will be splendid. I will be in K'konam on 6th and 7th.

You can stay in Swamimalai, which is around 5 kms from kumbakonam railway station. http://www.indecohotels.com/swamimalai.html
This is an eco friendly resort- hotel which is modelled around a traditional Tamil village home. Have stayed there and is best for a relaxed stay. Star attractions are the in-house cows, friendly deers and artisans who teach you pottery, etc. Downside is there is no bar or Non-veg food.

Thanks for the info. I checked the site. The price is quite high for an overnight stay. I am looking for something around 1200 as I will require two rooms. Know of any such place?

Re: A thread on Accomodation & Rates?

Can any one recommend a hotel for stay in Tiruppur? I will be travelling with an infant, so it needs to have a clean and well kept A/C room, availibiliy of running hot water is a plus. It also needs to have decent facility for food. We will stay for 1 or 2 days in the last week of June.
