Guruvayoor

Stayed at Guruvayoor for a night at Kousthubham rest house run by the Devaswom Board. Stayed in a 6-bed room.

Positives:

1. Cheap at Rs. 600/- for the 6-bed room. Normal double room comes at 200.
2. Clean room with tiled floor and attached bathroom (western style toilet).
3. Secure, gated, vast car parking, guarded by 3-4 guards (Rs. 5 parking fee).
4. Two minute walk to the temple.
5. In-house restaurant.

Negatives:

1. Old structure. The paint has started to peel off. Lift was not working.
2. No room service/bell boys per se. Once they issue the key at the reception, you are pretty much on your own.
3. The room (in second floor) in which I stayed has windows facing the road and there were no curtains. The rooms opposite have windows opening to the courtyard/parking lot though.
4. No hot water or shower in bathroom, no telephone, no TV, or no cupboards.

me @ trivandrum now. Thanks for the recommendation for Hotel Maurya Rajadhani, near statue junction. Nice and warm welcome I received. At the restaurant (golden fork) now, food is good.

Smiling faces all around. Rooms could have been cleaner. Curtains has some amount of dust, which when touched induced me to sneez couple of times. Reported to the reception. Let us see what happens.

Deal thru MakemyTrip.com got the air travel reserved thru makemytrip, and received a discount of 500 rs for booking this hotel total was 1800 for the room all inclusive with breakfast.

Pondicherry
Kailash Beach Resort

- Access to uncrowded beach.
- Excellent rooms (but no TV, fridge; eco-friendly concept it seems).
- No room service.
- Average food, exorbitantly priced.
- 8 km from Pondy town, on the way to Cuddalore; 3 km from the main road.
- INR4400 per night for double room (inclusive of breakfast).

I stayed with them in the month of june 2010. I had to pay Rs.2000 for a executive club room (I booked directly with the hotel and they gave me the discount). I didnt have any problem like dust on the curtain etc.
I liked very much!!

Hi Templehof,

I would rate the sterling resorts 6/10.Room quality is good.We cooked food ourselves in the rooms and never got a chance to experience food in the resort.Room quality is 8/10.Service 7/10,Safety 9/10.

If you are coming via Teni-Bodinayaknur, resort is before devikulam,on the right handside, it is easy to miss as there are'nt much sign boards.Sterling Resort is next to Club Mahindra, which is well marked.I missed this at night and drove to munnar, and it took 1 hr 30 mins to cover 40kms in darkness both ways in foggy conditions.

Enjoy your stay.

Heard that it is about 20 kms from Munnar - that is OK for me.

What I'd like to know about this place are:
  • How good is this place on a scale of 10?
  • How about food?
  • Room quality?
  • Service?
  • Safety?
Thanks in advance.

Yes Amp,we did stay at Kanoos.Lovely place. This & Krishna Inn are easily the two best places in town at the moment. The only difference would be that Kanoos serves Non-veg food whereas Krishna Inn does not. They maintain different kitchens for it though. But just for the records!

Accomodation at Lonavala

Hi All,

During our recent trip to Lonavala, we stayed at Salil Sarovar. Found the hotel to be very decent and tastefully decorated. Entrance to the room and to the loo is slightly cramped due to design, however rooms were pretty cozy.
We paid Rs. 3200 + taxes (incl Breakfast)

Regards
