re: A thread on Accommodation & Rates

Hi everyone, i am planning a trip to South Africa this June so wanted to know if anyone have been there? I plan to visit Cape town so anyone can recommend me a nice place to stay which is safe too as i would be with my wife alone. Also what all places i should visit in cape town to make it worth while?

Trip to Rudraprayag, Uttarakkhan. Need assistance.

Folks,

I work for a Corporate in Bangalore and part of the CSR team. Last year after the devastation in Uttarakhand my company had made large contributions towards rehabilitation work and reconstruction of few schools. We have decided to visit Rudraprayag in June end to check the construction work and assess additional requirement.

I am requesting for information on stay options near Tilwada, Rudraprayag for 2-3 days. There is 1 lady in the group, hence need to keep in mind the need for a decent accommodation and safety.

The plan is to fly Blr-Delhi-Dehradun and take a cab from Dehradun to Rudraprayag.

Any guidance in this regard will be highly appreciated.

Rudraprayag has GMVN tourist bunglow is the best bet. Try the gmvn website for more details. Alternatively Monal resorts is also an option.

Contact Tilak Soni. He is a local of Uttarkashi and was personally involved in relief and his team trekked to many remote places and organized medical camps. He can fully guide you and also tell you the situation on the ground.

Imo Malshej is not a place for staying overnight esp if you are with family, its just a haven for people to drink and make noise.

I vouch for Hotel Hari International Lonavala. I stayed there in March'14 for one night during my Bangalore - Delhi roadtrip. Paid 2200 bucks for a good tidy room with all basic amenties. Washroom was also clean and sterlized. Dinner was also good with normal rates.

If you are coming from Mumbai, you need to get down expressway at Lonavala exit and move towards market. This Hotel will come on the RHS before HPCL petrol bunk.

Sure! I started from Bangalore at 01:30 hours post midnight and reached Lonavala by 1630 hours same day. Purchased toll till Mumbai as the receipt was valid for 24 hours, so getting down expressway at Lonavala exit and joining back within 24 hours wasn't a problem.

We didn't pre-book via internet as we weren't sure where to say enroute. We just kept on inquiring one hotel or the other and zeroed in Hotel Hari International by chance. 2200 bucks was a deal for the room we got.

Another good option before Pune is Hotel Mahendra Executive at Satara (NH4). You can check out there as well

Any particular reason for not including Mahabaleshwar is this plan. It will be enroute has the best infra compared to even Lonavala, and the best weather in the monsoons.
Malshej is just a day drive at the most. (And it is a pretty long one too). Amboli has a better monsoon experience and is also enroute for you.
Try and squeeze in Bhandardhara, if the distance is fine with you.

Maby many hotel options around the market, I stayed in citrus last time don't remember the prices. Also many stat options in Panchagani.

Have a great trip. Godspeed

re: A thread on Accommodation & Rates

I am planning a trip with family to Wayand by the last week of june.

1. Would this be a good time to visit in terms of weather?

2. Any suggestion for a good homestay /villa. Going with extended family of around 8 members and hence not looking for a hotel or a resort.

That would be difficult. The good ones Opal, Raysons etc are about 4-5 km from temple. You can take an auto to the temple.

Its raining in kerala,so if you are going to enjoy the rains then its the best time,if you are looking at moving around within the district, its going to be difficult as its going to be slushy and muddy and rains come and go all the time.

This website is a kind of ready reckoner for wayanad homestays.Pls bear in mind that Wayanad is the district, you can choose to stay in Batheri,Kalpetta,Vythiri etc which are the places within Wayanad district.

There are many homestays in Wayanad, I suggest you should pre book via MMT or Yatra etc. I went there last year without pre booking with my family and we struggled a lot to find accommodation, somehow we found rooms in Sundari Homestay on Kalpetta Kozhikode highway.

If your budget is good, windflower resorts will be good
