Re: Coorg recommendations

What is the best route nowadays from Whitefield to Madikeri for an early morning start given that the expressway to Mysore is now open?

I usually take Whitefield ->ORR to Yeshwantpur -> Nelamangala-> Channarayapatna-> then SH to Holenarasipur-> Arakalagud-> Kushalnagar-> Madikeri and love the drive on the state highways after Channarayapatna and the options for breakfast on the NH as well.
I see that the distance via Mysore is almost the same, but around 15-30 mins shorter according to google maps.

Via NICE - Kengeri exit - Mysore road will be faster. Though the route you usually take is more scenic.

Re: Bangalore - Coorg : Route Queries

I usually take old airport road - shoolay circle - kr market flyover - kengeri to go to mysore from whitefield. It takes me an hour from home to kengeri when starting anytime earlier than 6:30am.

Re: Bangalore - Coorg : Route Queries

I am planning to drive from Bangalore - Madikeri during the year end. Are there any recommended IOCL bunks for XP95 fuel in Madikeri? I will drive onwards to Nileshwar from Madikeri and so am thinking of refuelling in Madikeri.

Or, is tanking up in Mysore or between Mysore and Madikeri a better option? Any recommended petrol stations for XP95 fuel on the way?

There’s been no rain. All the roads are in good shape. Can make decent time. Traffic is as always, the unpredictable part of driving in India.

Roads are in excellent condition. I am assuming you are traveling to Madikeri

Stick to BNG - MYS Expy - Mysore Ring Road - Ilavala - Hunsur - Periyapatna - Kushalanagar - Madikeri.

Regards

Re: Bangalore - Coorg : Route Queries

What are the good breakfast options? Considering that I take the Mysore Expressway and most likely first stop will be in the Mysore-Hunsur road.

Last time, I didnt find any options, so stopped at the first place post manipal junction and it was a crappy place.

Hotel Annapoorna in Hunsur is a good option. https://maps.app.goo.gl/zfWdtYjQr7HSQBFH7

Re: Bangalore - Coorg : Route Queries

Folks, have a Polibetta run to make this month. Any idea of current road conditions? Unfortunately, cannot leave my Yelahanka area before 1400 due to work commitments.

Google suggesting:
Option 1:
Yelahanka - Jalahalli - NICE Road - BME - Mysore ORR (RHS) - NH275 - Hunsur - Thithimathi (turn right here) and finally Polibetta. This is ~250 km and ~4 hours (best case).

Option 2:
Yelahanka - Nelamangala - NH75 - NH150A - Rejoin towards Hunsur. This is ~260 km and 4.5 hours (best case)

Which is preferable for a smooth trip in a XL6 factoring in the afternoon start? The vehicle will be full and hence I'll be aiming for the "golf ball in a bowl" type experience!
Personally, I feel Mysore Expressway will be a smoother option but open to any updated information.

Return to be on a (dreaded Sunday) late morning (~1100) start from Polibetta. Which route should I take on the way back factoring getting into Yelahanka ~1500/1600?

Quoting myself, sticking to the BLR-MYS Expressway on both legs. From all accounts received, it seems to be the best bet.

Any idea about road conditions after Mysore to Coorg (Club Mahindra Madikeri) post recent rains? Planning for 15th Aug weekend, anything to keep in mind?

I traveled today on this route > Mysore to Madikeri & beyond towards Sullya. Roads are good through out, no issues. Just watch out for the rain situation closer to the date, hopefully should be any problem then as well.

Reaching Madikeri will not be an issue at all, just that if any further plans to visit interiors/trekking etc, will only be affected if it rains, that's all.

Re: Bangalore - Coorg : Route Queries

How's the road condition from Mysore to Club Mahindra, Virajpet. Any recent visitors to the place?
Are the roads holding good or rains have an impact.
Plan to travel during the Aug'15 weekend.
