Team-BHP - Best route to Mysore from Goa

Hi Guys,

I'll be driving from Goa to mysore next weekend. I usually take this route
Goa-Karwar-Ankola-Sirsi-Sagar-Shimoga-Chikmagalur-Hasan-Mysore

It would be nice if someone could suggest a better route. This one takes too much time.

can't see anyone responded for this query. Now I'm in Goa, planning drive down to Mysore bypassing Bangalore.

MMI gave the following route. Would like to know the current road conditions and suggestions..

Goa - Mysore

Goa - Honavar (NH17) - Sagar (NH206) - Shimogha (NH206) - Bhadravati (NH206) - Arsikere (NH206) - Channarayapatna (Nr. Hasan, SH7) - Srirangapatna - Mysore

total distance is 600 kms.

please advice...

I've begun to dislike the NH 206 these days :( But you have the time and patience ( to endure ) and pull in few more memories, take that NH206.

If you do : from shimoga -> tarikere -> lingadahalli -> kemmannugundi -> lingadahalli - chikkamagalur ( don't really know the your schedule or the time you have on hand or if you plan to "visit" places on the way).

goa to shimoga is needed. from shimoga to mysore is 200 kms. the correct route is shimoga- arsikere ( high way) . in arsikere town take a right turn ( you can ask any one for mysore road) a little after the bus stand. this comes to channarayapatna. channarayapatna to srirangaptna 60 kms then to mysore.

Better to take the Kadur road via Sakkarepatna to CKM.

If you want to go via Chikmagalur, better take Shimoga-Tarikere-Lingadahalli-Santaveri-Chikmagalur-Hassan-Holenarsipur-Mysore. No need to go to Kemmangundi unless you want to visit it.

If you want to go directly, the route nutmello suggested holds good. Shimoga-Arsikere-Gandasi-Channarayapatna-Pandavapura-Srirangapatna-Mysore

this advice was late, bhatkal is pathetic.

i had some change on my plan. went calicut from Goa, then back to mysore. The below route, what is marked in read is not recommended. You will find it difficult to identify road in the marked area.

Hi Bhpians,

I am planning to visit Goa on the 22nd or 23rd. Route will be the following:

Mysore - Channarayapatna (breakfast at Kamath/CCD) - Arsikere - Shimoga - Sagar - Jog Falls - Honnavar - Karwar - South Goa

Spend 3-4 days covering South Goa, Panajim.

On the final day visit Dudh Sagar and drive to Hubli. Halt in Hubli and drive to Mysore via NH4 upto Hiriyur and then SH 19.

Questions:
1. After going through various posts came to know that Jog falls to Honnavar is in bad shape. Google maps shows an alternative through Mensi joining Siddapur Kumta SH 48 which is also shorter by 15 Kms. Anyone travelled in this route.

2. What is the best route from Dudh Sagar to Hubli, best in terms of road conditions.

I think best option is:

Castle Rock-Anmod-Ramnagar-Joida-Dandeli-Haliyal-Dharwad Bypass.

Expect roads to be at best decent.

LoL, I had actually queried an year back! somehow I had to touch mangalore and I took a different root.
