Hi guys,

Bumping up this old thread instead of creating a new one.

I would be in South Goa for 4 days in September for a laid-back vacation. Need inputs from veterans on places to visit other than beaches and "party shacks". I am primarily looking at visiting some off-beat places including old goa, churches, and the rain-washed lush-green countryside.

A not a veteran, but a total newbie So I'll just 2 items to your travel list:

- Arvalem Falls near Sanquelim (relatively small fall. Had it all for ourselves when we visited 2 years back. Way better than the trickle you get to see in Amboli Ghat).
- Tilari/Anmod Ghat - Needs no introduction! And the kind of terrain you can enjoy doing in a Safari.

Ah, Goa! there's so much to do. Apart from beaches in South Goa, don't forget to drop by in at Martin's Corner for King Crab Masala. You see, I'm allergic to sea food (keep sneezing for rest of the day if consumed) but that has never managed come in between me and the King Crab Masala of Martin's Corner

Then if you are in North Goa, DO NOT miss the Florentines in Saligao. Order Chicken Caphriel with Pao and you shall be in heavens. Try kaju faini with this, if you have the thirst
Fisherman's cove, Anantashram are few other places to enjoy outstanding food.

For beach shacks - head towards Curlies Anjuna or Five Five just next door is a great option to stay if you have ever dreamt of spending a night in a tent right on the beach.

Head up a bit more towards north and you will find pristine and unadulterated beaches of Ashvem, Arambol and Morjim

And finally end your day at Deltin Royale Casion. This is my personal favorite

And the list is endless, when you are in goa. Depends a lot on where you put up.

Do visit Church of lady of the mount, Church of St Cajetan, Viceroys arch (drive through), Archaeological museum, Basilica of Bom Jesus, Church of Saint Augustine ruins.

Do reach the museum early and then you can proceed to other places to avoid crowd.

You can park your vehicle at the left side when coming from Panaji around here . This side parking is comparatively less crowded.

I was reading through this thread from 1st page and wondering why anyone didn't mention these two iconic eateries viz Cafe Bhonsale and Cafe Tatos. So, thank you CANPUSH for listing them here.
Their Bhaji Pao (mind you it's not typical Paav Bhaji), Usal Pao, Mirchi Bhaji, Crispy Vada and even Bhakkam Peda is a to be tasted to get a sense of Goan Cuisine (albeit vegetarian).
