Regards,

Ravi.

Hotel Naveen is an RNS group hotel and is supposed to be good, my wife has stayed there quite a few times on her official visits.

Both these hotels are good but Naveen is a tad better. And if you're driving down in your Baleno, theres a Suzuki showroom just across the road, if need be.

You can check Ananth Residency on Lamington road and Swathi International opposite to HDMC.
A friend of mine stayed at Hotel Mayura, court circle and he said its decent.
There is one more, Hotel Hans opposite to BVB College, Vidyanagar but I have no recent updates about the stay at this Hotel.
My opinion would be Ananth Residency, Hotel Naveen and Travel Inn. Sorry but I dont have any contact numbers.

With one or two short breaks you should be able to reach Hubli within 7-8 hrs. Again it depends on your vehicle and traffic from Yeshwantpur to Nelmangala.

Have a nice and safe journey.

Thanks & Regards,
Girish

Hotel Hoysala in Dharwad

Thanks everyone for this information; It will surely come handy during my journey incase you have data on Belgaum (apart from Hotel Ramdev) let me know. It will be useful too. I guess Dharwad - Belgaum may be an extra hours travel. Incase I reach Dharwad early then i may drive upto Belgaum.

Any idea on the present road conditions? during my last trip to Belgaum the stretch from Chitradurga to Haveri was in a bad shape.

Maybe, you can try to touch NH4 at Dobbspet via Doddaballapur road so that you avoid the traffic jams from Yeshwantpur till Nelamangala.

You have to take the Bellary Road at Hebbal; drive on this road till Jakkur - Take a deviation to the left to go into Yelahanka town - cross the railway track, at Yelahanka police station circle take a left and continue on this road till you pass Doddaballapur town. Then you will get a junction of four roads where you have to take left towards Tumkur. Traffic is relatively free on this stretch and you should be able to drive smoothly.

You will reach Dobbspet at the bottom of the NH4 flyover.

Best Regards / Satish Prabhu

During July month, the roads were in good condition between Chitradurga and Haveri except at the diversions (covered Blore to Hubli in 6.5hrs). Heard that its not in good condition now because of the heavy rains. I think ravibhat is the best person to update on the road condition as he had taken this route very recently and in the other thread he has mentioned that it is not that bad.
You can still maintain good speeds if driven in day time especially early morning rather than evening/night time.

Thanks Satish for this route but from Koramangala to reach Hebbal during the afternoon will take about an hour; i will give it a shot on Monday as i am driving to Shimoga and would start around the same time as i have decided for the Bombay trip. Need to know if there are any boards / signs put up for entering Yelahanka town and also at the 4 cross road junction for Tumkur as i dont travel much to that end of town i am not well versed with the same. My usual route to Shimoga is the NICE road; one last query will this road cut down my travel time and at most how much of time can i save; sorry about asking too many questions.

Thanks for the info even during my last trip in April the conditions of roads were not so great from Chitradurga to Haveri and thats the only concern i will PM ravibhat for more details.

Hurrycane12 : incase you have data on Belgaum (apart from Hotel Ramdev) let me know.
Is Ramdev that good ? Found better ones in Bgm, but you will need to come into town. You could try heading straight to Dharwad / Hubli (upto 1.5 hours).

If you really want to stop in BGM, leave the by-pass, head into city, past KLE's hospital, till you reach the DC office area. There's a signal there. Take right towards Goa. A little further from there you can find a good hotel on the left. To continue to Dharwad, turn back from the hotel, and ask for directions.

Exact directions - the BGM members can give you.

Hi Hurricane,

On Bellary road after the Hebbal flyover, you will see Esteem Mall on your right, followed by Columbia Asia Hospital on your right, further on the road you will come to a signal with HP petrol pump on your left. Continue further and you will see another signal at Byatarayanapura. A little further you will see L&T Komatsu on your left and then GKVK campus on your left (GKVK-Gandhi Krishi Vigyana Kendra). After you pass this campus, you will see the Jakkur Aerodrome on your right. A little further you will see a signal light. At this signal light you have to take left and get on the service road a little further you will have to cross a railway track and this road will go into Yelahanka town. You will again come to a signal and on the left you will see Yelahanka Police Station. At this junction, take the left road which will go to Doddaballapur.

Also, at the junction of 4 roads just after Doddaballapur, there is a signboard which mentions "Tumkur".

On the time savings, I recently went to Tumkur via Jalahalli (start point: HBR Layout) and it took about 1 hour 45 minutes primarily because of heavy traffic from Jalahalli junction to Nelamangala. On the way back, i took the Dobbspet - Doddaballapur road and reached home in 1 hour 15 minutes. So the savings in time depends on the amount of traffic on the Yeshwantpur - Nelamangala stretch. As you mention, try it this Monday when you are travelling to Shimoga.

I stayed in Ramdev in April 08 and they have changed the interiors and have added AC rooms too :). I only knew this one hotel and wanted more inputs on some better place as didnt like the food here. Thanks for your input do you remember the name of the Hotel by any chance.

Thanks Satish for a detailed road map; will positively try this out on Monday afternoon.

Anyone know of a decent hotel close to NH4 near Hubli or on the hubli haveri stretch?

I am planning to travel from Bangalore to Goa and am looking at taking a stopover at Hubli or Dharwad at night before taking the Anmod Ghat road to Goa.

Any hotel on the highway with safe an clean rooms for a family of 3 is what I am looking for.

I know this thread is old but I have seen some very useful info here.

Hope it still holds.

Thanks in advance

And since this is my first post on Team BHP I hope I will be forgiven for any mistakes on my part.
