You will get 2 Paakashalas, one A2B which seem to be the decent options. But both the Paakashalas need a little bit detour. Shree Ratnam veg is also decent but it maybe a bit too early for you.

The Sira A2B seems to be the best of the lot.

Some more good options for you are:

Paakashala at Sira, there is also a CCD next door with an IOC bunk, in case you need clean washrooms. Do note this is on the opposite (return direction) side when going from Bangalore to Chitradurga

Upadhya Veg just before Chitradurga, again on the return direction so needs some minor U-turn planning . Shimoga diversion will ensure you anyway need to get off the bridge and will be on the opposite side of Upadhya (below the bypass flyover)

Laxmi Bhavan Tiffin room, famous eatery in Chitradurga town for Dosas and Gulab Jamuns. Needs a bit of a deviation into the town from your intended Chitradurga - Shimoga path but can do if interested.

On return journey to Bangalore, accidentally found a place called "New Shetty Lunch Home" had lunch from there.

Looks like still route is not fully ready. Work is still going on in few stretches. best route one can take is Bangalore>>Tumakur>>Chitradurga>>Shivamogga

I'm travelling to Kundapura via shivamogga on the Christmas weekend. This is the first time I'm going via shivamogga and needed some inputs.
1) How is the stretch between Shivamogga and Chitradurga if I take the Chitradurga route considering it's the Christmas weekend
2) Is it better to take the CR Patna > Arasikere > Shivamogga route?

The stretch between Shimoga and Chitradurga is a single lane highway but it is in good shape and reasonably fast, you can maintain good average speeds on this highway, plus have the additional advantage of being able to stop for breakfast at the Tumkur - Chitradurga stretch. The other alternative route you mentioned does not have any notable eateries between CR Patna and Birur (Preeti canteen in Birur is decent).

2) Is it better to take the CR Patna > Arasikere > Shivamogga route?

Four-laning work between Arsikere and Shimoga has been completed in many places, but there are also terrible broken, pothole-ridden patches on this route in the under-construction parts. The worst stretch is between Tarikere and Shimoga and is completely avoidable. I recommend that you stick to the Chitradurga - Hosadurga route to reach Shimoga, then go to Thirthahalli and Agumbe and get down the Agumbe Ghat, following which you turn off onto the Someshwara SH27 highway to go directly to Kundapur instead of going via Udupi.

In case you were planning to go to Udupi and then to Kundapur, Hebri to Udupi has some four-lane road expansion work going on and there are multiple diversions which will delay your journey unnecessarily, hence would suggest to avoid this patch.

This would be your ideal route -
Bangalore > Chitradurga > Hosadurga > Shimoga > Thirthahalli > Agumbe > Someshwara > Kundapur.

Update on this. Took 5:30 hrs from River Tern, Lakkavalli to Whitefield today. This route is mostly fine. Lakkavali to Tarikere till you take the turn to Hosadurga is a pain, especially NH69 around Tarikere. Tarikere flyover/bypass working is ongoing and the NH through the town is completely broken and the traffic crawls. Happy that I did not continue on NH69 if this is the state around the smaller towns.

I will be travelling towards Thirthahalli this weekend(from udupi) and need suggestion on the route to Bangalore from thirthahalli. I am told that the Shimogga Bangalore road widening might slow me down so what should be the alternative route ?

From the threads, i can see Tarikere->Ajjampur->Hosadurga->Hiriyur->Dabaspet . Is this route good ?

Also I am planning to stop for lunch near Tarikere. Please suggest any good vegetarian options around this place

Ajjampur->Hosadurga->Hiriyur used to have a few broken section and tends to slow you down IMO.

If your start point is Thirthahalli, then your best bet would be Shimoga - Chitradurga - Tumkur route. Roads are good to very good on the Shimoga - Chitradurga stretch, excluding 15km section from Shimoga to Holehonnur.
