I have travelled via the same route (via takli interchange) from pune to nagpur in dec last week. I will be travelling again this weekend and was thinking of any other alternate route to reach the samruddhi mahamarg, may be through shirdi or any intermediate interchange.

Any one has followed any alternate route from pune to nagpur?

I did Pune - Nagpur via the Harsul Sawangi interchange (took a halt at Aurangabad), but I guess if one is planning to do Pune - Nagpur in a day, its better to go via Shirdi and join the Samruddhi Mahamarg. I will try this route next since the distance is also lesser plus you get to avoid the traffic on Pune - Nagar route. It also helps if you live closer to Nashik Phata but if one stays in the Kharadi and beyond areas, joining via Aurangabad Takli interchange is better.

Re-quoting myself to update this information.
I travelled from Pune to Nagpur yesterday via the Takli interchange near Aurangabad.
A good option to stop, get refueled at the adjacent BPCL pump and have a late breakfast /brunch is the Rajput restaurant, located here.

I did the Pune - Nagpur route yesterday via the Takli interchange. Door to door, it took me only about 10 hrs 30 mins including couple of food + bio breaks. Left Pune at 0515 hrs. I found the journey comfortable and without any hassle. Totally doable in a day.

Not sure if going via Shirdi would be quicker? Need to try it out.
When coming from Shirdi, there are the equally notorious blockades of Chakan and Moshi, comparable to the Wagholi and Shikrapurs of the Pune - Nagar highway.

The overall experience was surreal! Truly a world class infra project.

Fantastic infrastructure all around - signages, lane width geometry, design etc. Good local district exit signs marked prominently to help drivers plan their exit from the expressway.

Fuel stations sparsely present, I would guess more are expected in the time to come.

Lack of facilities on the ~470 km stretch. Most glaring omission.
Another downer is the not-so-good cement surface quality on certain sections. Found it uneven and bumpy at times.

I had my dad to converse with for the journey, so that helped in keeping awake.

Cruise control, yes. I managed to use it generously on the A4. Helped by the arrow-straight roads for as long as the human eye can see out there.

I am planning a road trip to Pune next week. There are two options.

1. Take the Samruddhi marg till Aurangabad, then to Pune via Ahmednagar.

2. Take the Samruddhi marg till Shirdi, then to Pune via Sangamner.

Which one should I prefer? What is the condition of the Aurangabad- Pune and Shirdi-Pune roads?

Since it is not travel season, you might be able to take Sangamner-Shirdi. Its a mixed bag after Shirdi airport till you hit the Nasik-Pune NH.

It seems Rahuri-Shirdi has improved based on this (Delhi - Shirdi - Delhi : Route Update)input. But not brave enough to suggest the Nagar route yet.

Shirdi-Sinnar section of the expressway is also done, but its not opened for traffic yet.

Me too planning a road trip to Pune in the next week. But from Nagpur. Since your location says Wardha, I assume you are starting from there.I too was in the same dilemna, but have finalised to go till Shirdi exit and then join the Nasik-Pune highway. What made me chose this route is because I have to go to the western side of Pune. So no point in coming via Ahmednagar and crossing the entire city in the evening when the traffic is peak.
I am also waiting for updates on the completion of the Sinnar (Gonde) exit on the Samruddhi Highway. If opened then I will go till Sinnar exit which is on the Nasik-Pune highway.

So did Nagpur Pune Nagpur. Route I followed was Samruddhi Mahamarg till Shirdi.
Then Sangamner via Shirdi Airport road. Its 35 km internal road.The road condition is good though. After Sangamner you are on the Nasik - Pune highway which is 4 laned,so no problem.Sangamner-Alephata,Narayangaon-Manchar-Rajgurunagar-Chakan.Traffic is ok on this road. It took me 5 hrs to reach Shirdi from Nagpur with Cruise control set at 118 kmph. My home is around 15 km from Samruddhi start point.
Also took a sandwich and refreshment break after driving around 3 hours.Had lunch and darshan at Shirdi and then a misal break at Rajgurunagar. Left Nagpur home at 6:30 am
and reached Pharande Spaces,Puneville,dattawadi at 5:30 pm. 2 hrs break at Shirdi and half an hr break at RajguruNagar. Driving time from Nagpur to Pune which was 12-14 hours earlier, is now around 9 hours thanks to Samruddhi.

I am planning to drive my way to Nagpur soon. I live near Sinhagad Road. I wanted to know based on anyone's recent experience; which interchange should I pick to reach the expressway? Sinnar or Aurangabad?
I've been through the Alephata square, it can be a pain sometimes.

Alephata bypass is now functional. The flyover on the bypass is not complete yet but since very few people are taking the bypass, crossing that junction is a breeze. I crossed it on Sunday morning, not a worry in the world.

Just back from Pune-Nagpur-Pune trip via Samruddhi highway.

Started from Pune at 6.30 AM and entered Samruddhi highway at Sinnar, at 10.30 AM with 1 breakfast break. It took a total of 10 hours for Pune to Nagpur, with 4 stops.

Started from Nagpur at 1.30 PM. Exited at Ellora at 6.30 PM.
Took about same time for return trip.

Can easily cruise at 120kmph. No buses, very few cars, many trucks but they were following lanes correctly.

A friend of mine also came from Nagpur to Pune via Tadoba. He started from Tadoba at 6.30 AM and took 10.5 hours to reach Pune home.
Route taken: Moharli - Warora - Jamb - Vardha - Samruddhi highway - Sinnar exit - Pune.

Notes:
1. While going from Pune, there is about 175km distance between the 2nd and 3rd petrol pumps so please plan accordingly. (1st one is after Sinnar, 2nd one is after Shirdi and the 3rd one is directly before Mehkar)
On the other side, petrol pumps are well spaced.(every 75-100 kms)
2. You get only tea on most petrol pumps and samosa/snacks on some, so plan accordingly.
3. When coming from Nagpur to Pune, I recommend avoiding Ellora exit. This route via Nagar road is not as wide as the Pune- Sinnar highway and then there are a lot of hotels/road crossings/2 wheeler traffic. It will save you about Rs. 300 in toll and a few liters of fuel but lot of driving stress gets added.

Hi all. I plan to travel to Shegaon this Friday in my new Seltos FL GT Line DCT. I would be travelling from Pune-Manchar-Sinnar Samruddhi interchange-Samruddhi Mehkar Interchange- Shegaon. I believe return trip (Sunday) will also be on the same route.

In this jouryney travel through Samruddhi would be roughly around 283 Kms from Sinnar Toll plaza till Mehkar Toll plaza.

I had following queries-

1) I had read that there are very few restaurants or places where one can stop on the E Way. Has this improved? If not, any notable mentions where I can stop on my route between Sinnar toll and Mehkar toll?

2) Have read about multiple tyre burst incidents. I believe most of these would be due to sheer ignorance towards the tyre health by the travellers. However, any recommendation as to how much distance one can cover in one go, so that the tyres don't heat up and cause any untoward incident? My cars odo stands at 1000 Kms, so the tyres should be in great condition and have filled up nitrogen as per manufacturer recommendation.

3) Do share any other point you might have apart from this.
