We went through this route (via Nagpur) while going to Puri (Odisha) from Pune last week, in case it helps anyone.

Pune - Ahmednagar - Aurangabad - Jalna - Deulgaonraja - Chikhli - Khamgaon - Shegaon - Akot - Amravati - Nagpur ..... Raipur - Sambalpur - Redhakhol - Baudhgarh - Konark - Puri.

Pune to Jalna - 4 lane, as mentioned by many here
Jalna - Shegaon - cement road, 2/4 lane, just excellent
Shegaon - Akot - Amravati - this was surprisingly too good [cement + tar], with very less traffic, one can easily travel at 80+

One point to note - we entered Amravati through market place [evening time] while traveling from Akot. Though within 30 minutes, we got back on Amaravati - Nagpur highway.

Samruddhi mahamarg is open for public now.
I would like to know what is best option for Pune to Amravati travel. Intention is to have minimal traffic. Distance is not a priority.
Once we start from Pune, should we connect with this highway at Sinnar ? Or Shirdi ? Or follow usual route & merge with this highway at Aurangabad ?

Pune Aurangabad should be better bet since entire stretch is 4 lane. Take a left after Waluj and join Aurangabad bypass/ring road. Leave it a while after Verul to merge with Samruddhi.

Amravati exit is at Karanja lad. Take the exit accordingly.

Petrol pumps are functional. However, there are no markings. So, better tank it up before joining expressway.

Yeah. Signage is there. My colleague travelled on the expressway a day after inauguration from Nagpur and took the Aurangabad exit at Jambhala. This exit will help bypass Aurangabad and join Ahmednagar road from Waluj industrial area.


There is a proper signage at Karanja exit/entry for taking the expressway as well. I passed this in October while going towards Nagpur/Raipur.

There is 1 more exit near Nandgaon Khandeshwar for Amravati city. I haven’t personally seen it though.

Google, I suppose, will take further few days to include it in maps.

Now GMaps shows the highway titled "Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg"

I even managed to plot the Pune Nagpur route!

There's one right next to the Waluj BPCL COCO. Don't remember the name. This is bang on Nagar-Aurangabad road itself.

There's one Woodleaf close to Aurangabad airport, I had lunch here. Don't know if its open for breakfast.

Couple of options that I can suggest (out of the many options that are present on nagar Aurangabad road)

2. While going from waluj to harsul sawangi, you can go via baba petrol pump and central bus stand. It has multiple options for breakfast on that stretch. If you are prepared to take a slight detour the. Smile veg restaurant in Nirala bazaar also serves good options.

Not sure why, your plotting takes back to the old Mehkar Karanja route after joining Mahamarg at Waluj and still shows ~14 hrs to Nagpur :(

Yeah, even I noticed it.
~15 hours for 714 KM gives an average speed of 47.6 Km/h which makes zero sense. Perhaps Google computes the time based on real time feed by people on that route, which for now, could mean construction/maintenance staff.
That could explain the numbers for now.

Let's see if they change in the future.

For some reason, for me, Google Maps did not take me the Samruddhi Mahamarg route, even now when I checked, it still shows the old route. Probably, not enough data has reached Google that this expressway is open now.
I relied on Apple maps which correctly takes me via this new expressway. I travelled on this expressway from Nagpur to Nashik last Fri/Sat and it is completely open for traffic. Toll is being collected. There were 3 operating fuel pumps on my side when I travelled, but I didn't refill in any, so I do not know fuel availability. There is no food joint on this stretch, so carry your food and snacks. Watch out for dogs and animals as I saw a few dead ones on the road. Good luck, Safe drives !

Looks like GMap is yet to catch up.

I am scheduled to travel on 22nd Dec to Odisha and am still a bit confused with regards to the time taken to reach Nagpur from Pune.

Has anyone travelled on this route (Pune-Nagpur/Nagpur-Pune) post the inauguration who can help me with the entry/exit points and also the time taken to complete the distance?
