One is to go all the way to Ernakulam and go via Vaikom/Kuamarakom to Kottayam. The other is to take the MC road, for which you exit at Angamaly. And then go via Perumbavoor/Muvattupuzha/Ettumanoor.
I dont know which is the better option.

The road till Theni is fantastic (4-lane till Dindugul and wide 2-lane to Theni) and it deteriorates towards Kumily as per what I read last. Have not seen any update towards Kanjirapalli.

This is the standard route taken by most interstate RTC and private buses.
However, if going from Bangalore, then Theni-Kumily route is also an option.
Hi, we're planning a trip from Kottayam to Bangalore a few weeks from now. Almost everyone in this thread recommended the Kottayam > Kumily > Cumbum > Dindigul > Salem > Hosur > Bangalore route and I have been on the Kumily-Theni-Dindigul route once before for a Pondicherry trip last year so I know the layout until then.
I would love some suggestions for good rest stops on the route to Bangalore as i struggled to find good stops on our Pondi trip.
