Delhi to Indore : via Jaipur or Agra?

Dear BHPians,

I'm buying a Aveo 1.4 in June from Ambala and plan to drive it down to Indore (MP). The routes available are Delhi- Jaipur- Bhilwara- Chittorgarh- Ratlam - Indore OR Delhi -Agra Gwalior - Indore. That's around 850 - 900 kms.

Could you please give me feedback on :-

1. The road condition from Jaipur to Bhilwara (ie SH 12) and Bhilwara to Indore via Chittorgarh- Ratlam ie NH 79 and NH 59.

2. Whether it is feasible to cover route 1 above in one day (as per mapsofindia.com distance is 670 km) as I'll be driving a new car.

3. The road condition from Agra-Gwalior to Indore ie NH 3. Whether this distance can be covered in one day?

Regards

Well Since no one had any idea, I did the next best thing... asking transporters and truck drivers. Apparently the Road ahead of Kota is lonely and quite bad.

All of them recommend Delhi- Agra- Gwalior- Shivpuri - Indore (NH 3). Will soon post the travelouge.

Dude, saw your thread just now. I dont know much about those routes, but i think given the current unrest in Rajasthan, it would be better to avoid the Jaipur route. But i guess you have already figured that out.

And congrats on the new car!

Chief take the Agra route. Rajasthan is boiling over and your route is gonna take you into the heart of the whole agitation. Be safe, drive through Agra.

OK hers's an update. The road from Gwalior onwards to Indore ie NH 3 is very bad. Its a 2 lane highway with lots of trucks and bad road conditions. The road from Delhi to Agra and further to Gwalior is a dream; but the moment you are in the heart of MP its a crying shame!

Business as usual - this is always common during monsoons. Road is terrible after you cross Shajanhanpur en route Dewas and Indore. South of Indore, road is also normally terrible after Mhow.

Han anyone travelled on SH 12 (Jaipur - Bhilwara) recently? How is the road condition?
I will be driving from Jaipur to Chittorgarh and wanted to know which of the following two routes would be better in terms of drivablity, speed and scenery:
1) Jaipur - Kishangarh - Chittorgarh (NH 8 and NH 79)
2) Jaipur - Bhilwara - Chittorgarh (SH 12 and NH 79)

MRK.
I think no two opinions. Route 1 it is. Jaipur- Kishangarh-Bhilwara-Chittorgarh (NH-8, NH 79). In terms of Speed and drivability.

Yes you can take state highways and go via Sanganer, Phagi, Kekri and Bhilwara, and save on 50kms or so. But why do you wanna do that when you have one of the best highways passing through Bhilwara.

I think you blindly take NH8 from Jaipur to Kishangarh, then take a left where the expressway finishes to Nasirabad. That is NH79 and will take you via Bhilwara.

Its an excellent drive, really good roads and very less traffic. Enjoy the ride, dont over speed and be safe

Good luck!!!
