E pass is needed to enter Nilgiris dt up to 30th June. As far as I know soft copy is enough you don't need to carry a printout

Not a bad time. Route will be Mysore Road - Bandipur - uthumalai - Masinagudi - Ooty and on return Gudalur - Muthumalai - Bandipur.

It just takes 2-3 minutes to apply and get one. You may rather take it if the link is active than worry about whether needed or not.

Re: Bangalore - Mysore - Ooty : Route Queries

Has anyone travelled recently on the Kanakpura road to Malavalli and then further on to Chamrajnagar? Time difference between Expressway and the above route is just couple of minutes.

I travel very frequently via Kanakpura and Malavalli. Roads are now excellent, Kanakpura bypass is pretty much done, only needing a slight offroad excursion that even my low slung sedan can handle. Post kanakpura, there are 2 more small offroad deviations. Halagur bypass is also done and open to the public.

Yes. The final deviation was being relaid this Monday so I assume it would be complete and open to public by now.

Re: Bangalore - Mysore - Ooty : Route Queries

The culvert connecting to Masinagudi near Theppakadu in Mudumalai is overflowing, so vehicles have to take the Gudalur route to Ooty.

Heavy rain is predicted till 20th July in entire Nilgiris district. So tourists travelling to Ooty must check the weather before hitting the roads during the weekend.

Thanks for this update. I am planning to visit Mudumalai this weekend and stay at Labadhi Resort. Can you tell me if the elephant camp and the Jungle safari are impacted? Any pointers will be helpful.

Re: Bangalore - Mysore - Ooty : Route Queries

There is an orange alert for the Nilgiri district and surrounding areas till today. Heavy rains are forecast till this Sunday at least. There are a lot of landslides and traffic diversions.

Please enquire with local sources, plan well if you are proceeding to this area. Avoid if possible.

The Masinagudi area roadway which was submerged till today morning is now open for travel
