Undoubtedly option B. You save yourself huge traffic on Bangalore-Mysore road.

Go with Pandavpura,Nagamangala option. Yes I agree humps are a speciality here in KA. But I learned to live with it by design. First it was the Fusion. And Now its the Duster!
Great to know about the Jetta doing good. One of the best for the highways.

ampere,

You've solved my point. Route B ( which I did in my drive to Coorg), is it!
Thank you.
Am leaving in an hour for Hubli.

One option, though IOC & not a COCO:

When you enter Harihar (before Davangere), there is an IOC bunk on the right. I have filled diesel on some of my trips on this route & have found it good. This a little after the highway seems to split into two one-ways, though the left fork is a 2-way for local traffic.

Re: Coorg recommendations

Guys, any good suggestions on home stay at Coorg within the range of 2-2.5k? I tried with Victorian Verandez and they are fully booked.

Re: Coorg recommendations

Planning for a trip to Coorg during the weekend. Booked a room in Oleander Serviced Apartments. Any idea how is this? TripAdvisor reviews were decent.

Day 1 -> Bangalore to Coorg. Visit Shravanabelagola and Bylakuppe Golden Temple (Namdroling Monastery) en-route. Check-in to hotel. Omkareshwara Temple, Raja's Seat, Gaddige.

Day 2 -> Mandalpatti, Abbi falls, Sri Igguthappa Temple, Nalknad Palace, Chelavara falls

Day 3 -> Talacauvery, Brahmagiri Hills

Day 4 -> Dubare, Nisargadhama. Check-out from hotel and leave for Bangalore.

Is the above itinerary manageable? Can it be optimized?

Can I cover all the above places in my own car? How's the road condition? I believe that a jeep is required to reach Mandalpatti. I would like to visit Mandalpatti and Abbi Falls together by using a jeep. Please recommend a good service and approximate cost for visiting Mandalpatti and Abbi Falls.

Re: Coorg recommendations

Hi Guys,

Planning for a Coorg trip this weekend. As in booking has been done with Club Mahindra and although its 2 night stay but I plan to head back Sunday afternoon from Coorg. Also, the feel route I have is this

Blr(HSR) - Srirangapatna (via mysore road)- hunsur - periyapatna - kushalnagar

Planning to start early and cover mainly the Tibettan Golden temple. I have heard its raining in Madikeri so wont be able to venture out much. Needed help on the route thing and any other place i should plan to cover (weather permitting) like Talacaveri or Nagarhole? Any recommended places to eat on the way and in Coorg as well (to experience their cuisine?). Will travelling with my 1.5 yr old kid so any hiking is out of question. I am hoping the driving time not be in excess of 5 hrs.

Any pointers/opinion/reccos are most welcome.

Regards

Re: Coorg recommendations

Hi WheelWake,

Blr(HSR) - Srirangapatna (via mysore road)- hunsur - periyapatna - kushalnagar is the best road to travel to Madikeri.Leave early in the morning to beat the traffic on Blr-Mys road. On the way to Madikeri you could cover the Golden Temple(Namdroling Monastery) in Kushalnagar followed by Dubare elephant Camp and proceed to Madikeri. You can cover Talakaveri and also visit Abbey Falls.Nagarhole would be a distant drive and would need a complete day to visit. Try "Taste Of Coorg" for authenctic Kodava fare and "Mayura Valley View" for food with a view..Have fun

If you are driving from Mumbai, you dont have to come to BLR to reach Madikeri, though I suspect you are not driving in from Mumbai?

Re: Coorg recommendations

I was wondering if this is a good season to visit Coorg. I am getting mixed views and it's confusing. Have 4 days at hand towards end of July. Would it be worthwhile to visit then? Looked at few hotels and among them Coffee Trails, Oleander Serviced Apartments and Serene Woods are the ones I liked.

Re: Coorg recommendations

See the weather forecast and decide. Generally, July/August/Sept is when it rains heavily. There are some wonderful sights to see in Coorg. Hope you enjoy!

Hey buddy, many people visit coorg and western ghats just to enjoy the rains and when it rains in these regions, it pours, if you are one those who enjoy the lush greenery, unpolluted breeze, then do visit them.

Coorg will be amazing in raining season, you will enjoy nature at its fullest. The best place to stay in Coorg (Madikeri) is Victorain Verandaz home stay. This place is located amidst a working tea plantation and the owners of this place (Diana & Tim) are super-humans beings.Book ASAP as they have only 2 rooms and one cottage.

Waseem.

Wondering if the roads are still above water in Coorg. See this https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=1&theater . Anyone in Coorg or been to Coorg in the last 3-4 days? Please do comment.

It is still raining in Coorg and rather heavily too.If you love driving in the rain and enjoy the lush greenery with water everywhere then this is the time to go. However ensure that only the main roads are driven through and avoid detours through non tarred roads as they are mostly submerged in water or have turned into Chocolate mud pudding

P.S :- Ensure that you carry warm clothes n waterproof shoes. Cheers
