Solapur - Sambhaji nagar is a decent route which can be covered in 4 hours and this directly connects to Samruddha mahamarg for your journey to Shirdi.

Sambhaji nagar to Shirdi via Sammrudhi is around an hour and half.

Bangalore to Solapur is good and can be covered in 8 and half hours with break.

Starting early from Bangalore is the key.

This is my usual route from Bengaluru to Sambhaji nagar and I cover this distance in around 13-14 hiurs with 2 breaks and maintaining speed around 90-100 and not exceeding that.

This plan cant be changed since hotel booking in Solapur is non refundable the reason why i got very good discount

Also i have already booked online for Darshan at 8 PM 17th Nov and Kakad aarti next day morning

Based on my familiarity with this route, next time i will do nonstop shirdi via solapur. This will also save me hotel stay money

Not sure if its 8.5 hours, but google maps is suggesting Bangalore (from my location) to solapur 11 hours non-stop. If i take 2 breaks (breakfast and lunch), easily it should take me 12 hours. This means i need to start by 5 am from my home to reach solapur before sunset

Dont have to trust G-maps blindly. Once you get past Tumkur, the traffic will not be heavy. Suggest Relax, and head out when you are ready, than push yourself. Roads are good, but for some speed-breakers towards Bijapur.

( We did Pune-BLR in about 13 hours with breaks - and that included traffic, especially Tumkur-home traffic in the evening. Max speeds were 120. But here you will be going in the opp direction).

We started from Bijapur hotel around 915 am and were at NICE entry from Tumkur Road at 548 pm and TG Halli A2B (ahead of Attibele) at 653 pm. This included 1:10 hrs at Hospet Naivedyam (which is a good 7-8 km detour from the main highway) and 25 minutes at Chitradurga Upadhyaya Ruchi.

Add 80 minutes to Solapur.

Re: Bangalore to Solapur : Route Queries

Did BLR - Solapur on 26/10 as part for a longer solo drive up to DEL/NCR.

Took ~8 hrs, with 2 fuel stops (one midway, one after entering Solapur city to have the car ready to go the next day). Along with a couple of bio breaks, so effective drive time would've been about 7:20 - 7:30.

Start Point: Marathahalli
Start Time: 0500
End point : Balaji Sarovar, Solapur
End Time: 1300

Route details:

- From Marathahalli went out towards Hoskote and STRR. Given that it was the weekend before Diwali, I was very much inclined to avoid traffic and bottlenecks at all costs, even if it means an additional XX km.

- Joined NH4 at Dobbaspet. Usual NH4 shenanigans while its 4 lane till Tumkur (trucks racing side by side and blocking the whole road). Potholes have decreased considerably compared to 2 years ago; you're fine if you're cruising 60-80 till beyond Tumkur

- Turned off on Chitradurga Bypass on to NH50. This is a great (and IMHO undersold) highway; 4 lane, sparse traffic, very easy to cruise. Refueled at an IOCL on NH50, near Jarimale. This place has XP95.

- There will be 50-80km stretch on NH 50 which will have smooth (i.e. no potholes) tarmac but massive undulations - drive carefully on this stretch keeping in mind your speed and suspension

- Nothing much to note on the rest of the route, except enjoy the scenery

- Refueled in Solapur city at another IOCL (XP95 available)

Re: Bangalore to Solapur : Route Queries

I had ridden down from Pune to Bangalore (Tumkur) Oct 26 and back to Pune Nov 2. Route taken: Pune - Sholapur - Vijayapura (Bijapur) - Hospete - Chitradurga - Tumkur.

Distance 800 Km.
Time: Left Pune at 5.15am and was in Tumkur Hotel (Sadanand) 4pm.

Road Conditions:

Pune to Sholapur has pretty decent roads all through. The Sholapur City bypass is also a boon to travellers and is also in good shape.

Sholapur - Vijayapura: Smooth roads. Fill up fuel at Vijayapura as there are very few options till Hospete.

Vijayapura - Hospete: Roads are smooth but have frequent speed breakers / rumble strips. Could not see any decent restaurant along this stretch.

Hospete - Chitradurga: Excellent smooth road. No speed breakers.

Chitradurga - Tumkur: Smooth roads with a couple of diversions for flyover work but nothing major to really bother about.

Overall and in hindsight, this was a good decision to take the above route vs the NH48 route via Kolhapur, Belgaum, Hubli which is still dug up.

I too recently did a Pune to Mysore trip using NH65/50 and my experience was similar to yours,https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/trave...ai-tucson.html (Road-trip from Poona to Mysore in a Hyundai Tucson) yes roads are smooth without any potholes albeit undulating but this is probably the best of road surface you can get from a National Highway of India, heck even brand new super expressway like Delhi-Mumbai e-way can have such undulations that can throw heavy SUVs like Creta airborne!

This was exactly the reason why I chose this route over the standard NH48 even though the latter one is having greater number of rest stops, petrol pumps and eating options because the conditions are absolutely horrendous especially the Satara-Kagal section of the NH48 which is maintained by MSRDC,.my work routine is such that I need to shuttle between Mumbai-Pune-Kolhapur and therefore have to use this route frequently, almost 2-3 times a week and I've witnessed the road conditions especially since last year going progressively downwards with no signs of improvement, the diversions are too many causing bottlenecks, the service roads are hardly motorable and the construction work is a bit too slow, also the job is too poor considering its a national highway,.they have completed widening of a few sections but man are they bad with so many dips and sudden misaligned patches which cause violent jerks to your car and capable of throwing out the alignment of your car. During night the situation is even worse with so many trucks, cars and 2 wheelers without any functioning tail-lights or reflector strips to indicate their presence on the unlit highway.

Much better route as mentioned above than compared to standard NH48, somebody at NHAI, MSRDC or whatever need to pull up their socks and speed up the road widening projects since it's high time now considering they're charging such high tolls, also they need to keep a check on the quality of work done, by ensuring levelled roads, minimum undulations, proper markings etc

I thoroughly enjoyed my drive to Mysore through NH65/50 as compared to my regular shuttle through NH48.

Thanks

Re: Bangalore to Solapur : Route Queries

Hey Folks , thanks for the detailed routes suggested in the thread. I'm planning for a family drive to shirdi starting this Saturday. Enroute want to visit pandharpur and tuljapur, would solapur be a good stopover ? I'm seeing few hotels in pandharpur but nothing that great. Also the breakfast point anand vihar suggested seems to open around 10am, I'm planning to start by 4.30am , are there any other places for breakfast?

Solapur would be an ideal halt preferably closer to NH65 so that Tuljapur and Pandharpur are easily accessible. Suggest to reach Solpaur and cover Tuljapur and next day visit Pandharpur and travel to Shirdi.

Anand Vihar unfortunately opens quite late and is not of any use if you start early. You could travel further till Kushtagi for Nandgoluka restaurant.
