@ Ravi - Thanks a bunch for the route details. Tried this today and am very happy. Entered Thuraiyur Road @ 11:50 and reached Trichy at around 1:30pm

Wonderful compared to Thottiyam - Musiri route

The only gripe I had was the time spent at the toll booths today.. Terrible wait times - Sample this - 45 mins @ Hosur , 30+mins @ Thoppur and 40+ mins @ Salem :Frustrati

Hope the return journey is better

@Ravib - Thanks Ravi. Did the thuraiyur route to trichy today.
The thuraiyur road is just in superb condition. No traffic on that route made the drive so enjoyable.
@CSateesh - We too spent about 1 hour standing in long queues in tolls especially at Hosur and Thoppur, never seen so long queues before.

Started at 5 am in the morning and reached trichy by 11.30 am (6.5 hours). Mad holiday rush :)

@ravigop, AFAIK, since the day i started using this route, it is in good condition always and nothing much to complain compared to other possible routes.

I used this route sometime in early 2011, at that time it was not this smooth. Now i can recommend this over any other route anytime.

Agree. The roads is much smoother now. The road was not this good in 2011 as they were diverting the traffic through a village, digging holes and reconstructing roads on a section. Hope it stays this way throughout.

I do not have first hand information on this but one of my relative mentioned Musiri - Thottiyam is in pretty bad shape last week.

It was never in good shape in the last 2 years. How about after musiri ? The route via Karur NH ? Is it drivable ?

The NH is not worth it still. Better to take Nammakkal-Thuraiyur. Seems to be much better an option than Musiri.

The route via Karur NH still has bad stretches throughout. Not sure when they are planning to complete this.
Thuraiyur route is the best option available right now as Ampere mentioned.

Hi, I'm planning a trip from Bangalore Airport to Velankanni in the beginning of May. Our Flight arrives Bangalore at 10.50 am. Hope to be en route by 11.30 am. Can I do the distance in 8 hours? Which will be the best route?
