Re: The Bangalore - Chennai Expressway

Was bored, so went for a drive on the road to check it out. Some observations!

1. The speed Limit is 120 Km/hr and I was cruising comfortably at high speeds because there was no traffic at all. But, once it stars getting more use I feel 120 is too much on the road, 100 should be quite comfortable especially since it's currently only 2 lanes and very little room for error.

2. The first rest stop is exactly 50 kms from Hoskote interchange and it's completely empty, even the ground is not laid out. It will take a while before even a petrol bunk to be setup here. You need to go way out of the highway currently for fuel.

3. The road surface is decent, no "bumps" like you face on the BLR-MYR road, so the car doesn't jump as much.

4. No U-turns what so ever and barely any exits. If you miss one, then you have to go 25+ kms for the next one.

Joy ride on Bangalore to Chennai Expressway, isn’t a better way to kick start a weekend, of course yes.

Caution – Vehicles plying on wrong side at highway speeds. No facilities on the NE unless you exit to any nearby town. Avoid night drive at any cost on this 71Km stretch.

My hands on a VENTO TDI 1.6 and on this beautiful empty stretch, how long can I hold my temptation, sorry folks at one point I gave up and its pedal to the metal for few minutes, wow, what a joy. There were few undulated surfaces but overall it’s a good surface.

My buddy Vento is running on Goodyear Triple max stock size, amazing grip and no wobbling or any kind of vibration at serious speeds. I’m a Yoko patron for many years so I was bit skeptical about GY but no more.

I’ll let the picture do rest of the talking.

Re: The Bangalore - Chennai Expressway

Travelled the stretch of Chennai Banglore expressway from Devanahalli upto KGF.
Amazing stretch of highway .The Interchange at Hoskote was also flawless.
As I was travelling from Hyderabad to Coimbatore it was easy to bypass both Banglore and Hosur. The running time between Hyderabad and Coimbatore could be saved close to one hour by using this Hoskote - KGF stretch of highway.

Great to note this. Did you do: Hoskote-KGF exit-Malur-Berigai?

If you have not then, for return, do try:

Krishnagiri- Kuppam- V Kota - Sundarapalaya - Hoskote- Devanahalli.

You bypass entire Krishnagiri-Hosur-Bangalore-Devanahalli!

This one is a no brainer if you are headed south TN from Hyderabad side (possibly even from NH4).

I had mentioned this here (The Bangalore - Chennai Expressway). You get a very good wide 2-lane from V Kota to Krishnagiri, to do a decent 80 all through

Few more sections would open up. Unlikely it'll be fully operational in a year. TN section is the slowest.

Given that TN assembly elections are due in May 2026, I expect them to do what we IT folks call an MVP and perform a very well-publicised inauguration before the MCC comes into force.

Re: The Bangalore - Chennai Expressway

Came from Malleswaram in Bangalore to Chennai via this new expressway yesterday.

Saw youngsters in 4 SUVs (Fortuners, Mercedes G Wagons etc.) stopping in the center of the expressway to shoot reels presumably. Saw army trucks moving along and then one army truck was parked by the side and soldiers were performing push-ups on the grass.

Encountered very few other vehicles all along. Reminded me of interstate highways in the US.

Had to use a cumbersome state highway after getting off its last motorable point and joined the old highway at Pallikonda. What was especially cumbersome on this route was a hilly forest area where there's jarring rubber rumble strips every 50 metres.

I would say it's not worth using this route until the entire stretch to Sriperumbudur gets completed. (Note: I went wherever Gmaps took me, was helpless since I do not know Bangalore at all.)

Re: The Bangalore - Chennai Expressway

As it seems to be the flavor of this season, did a joy drive on NE7 till the last open point from Bangalore.

As mentioned by others here, did find few random vehicle crossing - facilitated since the barricades are not still fully closed, hence looks like villagers are still using the old dirt road which got cut across by the expressway.

Road surface has lot of patch work, however thankfully the patch work seems to be done proper and the surface overall is smooth.

Traffic was sparse even though it was around Sunday late morning / afternoon.

Came across couple autorickshaws and few 2 wheelers also.

One interesting observation, we were a group of some 20 people / 15 cars in total, when we were parked next to the still not open toll booth at end of the highway, two policemen on bike came over asking if we were facing any issues. They were just checking and as usual asking to move on, however they were carrying a rifle. Haven't seen KA police carry gun on regular patrolling, not sure if its due to any incident which happened earlier.

I traveled from Krishnagiri - Kuppam - Kempapura - KGF - KGF Interchange and then onto Chennai Banglore expressway upto Devanahalli.
Thought of going through V. Kote it adds upto 35kms extra and maybe another half an hour of running time

I was aware of the conditon of all three NH routes between these two cities. But took NE7 + NH75 because Google Maps said it is the fastest route. The NE7 part was okay but the drive on most of NH75 from V.Kota was tedious. Oh, I absolutely hated those rumble strips on the narrow ghat section. It became dark by the time I exited NE7. So, the drive on NH75 was in the dark.

I wouldn't recommend this route to Chennai. But sadly the other two NH to Chennai are also under heavy construction. Even with the ongoing road works, NH48 remains the best and fastest if one can avoid the weekend rush.

Re: The Bangalore - Chennai Expressway

If they open up till Mogili first, which is closest to NH69, would be a big relief. Barring a section near Mogili, earthwork is done elsewhere, so accelerating this section is possible realistically, whether they do that will have to wait and see. I have read latest reports that June 2026 is deadline for the entire expressway to open.

Certain well wooded areas in Andhra are notorious for Naxal activity. Same like certain areas of KL in the thickly wooded Western Ghats.

Actually comforting to know, hope there's patrol in the night too. I am thinking and hopeful NHAI is applying it's learnings from stone pelting, robbery incidents along DME and improving security blanket in common.

Re: The Bangalore - Chennai Expressway

I am planning to visit a factory in Narsapura Industrial area from Chennai. What's the best option to try the express way.

Google is showing Vellore-Pallikonda - Gudiyatham-SH75 and on to NE7. I am not very familiar with topography of that area.

I am planning a early morning start from Chennai and reach by 10: 30 am and leave Narsapura by 3 pm
