Hey Guys,

I am planning a trip with family to Mahabaleshwar. I havent traveled to the place in last year so just wanted to enquire about the medha ghat road and its conditions. going through wai is also an option however I dont like the narrow roads given the rash driving maniacs these days. I just want to avoid the panchgani road. Also medha ghat road directly leads to Le Meridien resort which i have the booking with. If anyone recently visited the road please let me know the conditions. I will be travelling via an SUV so it can take little rough patches.

I have driven on the Medha ghat road to Mahabaleshwar in 2021. The route though narrow has good surface and very little traffic. Watch out for ST Buses as they come down the ghat. The drive is very beautiful.

I also drove to Mahabaleshwar in the first week of June. I took the expressway untill Khalapur and took the road via Pali to join NH66. NH66 untill after Mangaon are filled with Potholes and diversions. Traffic jam at Mangaon is a possibility. But the road after Mangaon to Poladpur are good. The ghats from Poladpur to Mahabaleshwar are in good condition and minimal traffic. In a couple of places they are being repaired. But the best part is very little traffic.

On our way back we came via Panchgani and I would not recommend this route to anybody as there were massive traffic jams on both side of the road due to Mapro and tourist tax collection.

At that time the road was being concretised but now complete and also traffic density is less compared to the Panchgani-Wai route. Drive safe and happy holidays.

Thanks ACMerchant I was just looking for a confirmation and you made my day for the route confirmation. I went there in aug 23 and the roads were good and traffic sparse so wanted to go from the same route again. I dont mind an extra hour sans the traffic .

Happy to report that although little narrow roads for 20 kms or so medha ghat is the most peaceful way to reach Mahabaleshwar. Good tarmac and concrete roads and hardly any traffic. Take exit from pachwad to medha ghat and to Mahabaleshwar. https://maps.app.goo.gl/SaKgkv39mGiBGb3dA?g_st=ic
