Having said that - once you cross into Kerala, NH 544 is perhaps 80%+ through some municipality or corporation limits. :-)

My point exactly and the speed limit here is 50 in municipality or corporation limits.
The risk of over speeding and getting 1500 x N no of challans is too high IMHO

Can the app be used alongside Google maps? I am not sure how the app functions, but it would be great if it just supplements info from Google maps with a small window.

It will run in the background and the voice alerts can help. You may find them irritating but the reward is worth it IMO

The cameras after Walayar are working and i got a fine ticket recently, but it happened in Feb 2022 - the notice showed I was over speeding at 82 kms and I was charged Rs. 1500/- This notice came home (Bangalore) as registered post in October 2022

So here I see if the law states its 80 kms at that time I am charged a fine of Rs 1500/- just for 2 kms !!!

So as all say here be careful and its better to drive slow as you enter Kerala. As all know the only area where you can speed in Kerala is from Walayar to Thrissur, rest as all know, is very crowded.

Wondering if your were in 80km limit zone or lower?

The speed limit is 90kmph for cars in 4 Lane National Highway in Kerala. 80 is for state highway (mostly two lane)

If you were on the Walayar - Palakkad stretch and got this challan, you may consider contacting the MVD. Check the grievance contacts in the link below.

Other agencies (LSG, police etc.) install speed limit boards but don't have the infrastructure or workforce to enforce such limits consistently.

Except on Kodungallur byepass, where they have enforced this 50kmph rule and mint money.

:Frustrati How and when did the total toll from Bangalore to Kochi climb up to ₹960?

Someone was so vocal and his followers were clapping when he announced he would remove close by toll gates.

He could remove the L&T bypass first, if only...

Planning to drive from Hyderabad to Thrissur on 23rd September. Will be driving alone. If some one is interested to join, please message me privately.

not sure why I wrote September, guess I was daydreaming at office lol:
Yes I am planning to leave on 23rd Dec early morning and return on the weekend of 7/8th Jan. Let me know !
I have booked myself a train ticket for now, but always ready to drive if I have company. I will be looking to bypass BLR.

I expect most of to be driving down to Kerala for Christmas and New year. For those crossing my walayar, the last 12 km stretch before Kerala will see road works and diversions. After two false starts this week, they finally started laying tar yesterday and diverting traffic through service road. Being stuck behind trailers along with jokers coming in the opposite side will be a chore. Please plan another half plus delay in this stretch alone.

+1 Plus the so called " server" has been going down and staying down for hours at the checkpost leading to huge pileups. This has happened on four different occasions in the past 2 days and it is utter chaos there.

Attingal bypass (NH-66):

Did a Bangalore Trivandrum drive today. Noticed speed traps with cameras placed at 10 locations - after Madurai to Tirunelveli, over a rectangular arch with 2 cameras, 2 speed display screens and a speed detector.

On two of those speed traps my speed was 100 kmph and 104 kmph respectively, and they came up on speed display screen with red background.

Then watched out for rest of the speed traps and slowed down below <80 kmph (about 200 m far from them) before passing through them and the speed on display was with green background.

My question is whether they have started giving out challans for speeding above 80kmph on that stretch? Are they functional?

Couple of the speed traps weren't working, guessing by their speed display being off and all these might be newly installed too? (Driving through here after an year)

Noticed there are speed traps on the return direction too.

Driving down to Kollam from Bangalore on 22nd Dec via Salem, Dindigul, Madurai, Tenkasi, Punalur. Has anyone travelled this route recently, would like to know the road conditions and traffic considering it is Sabarimala season as well. I understand the traffic will be heavy from Punalur all the way till Kollam.
