Re: All Roads to Kerala

Drove back from Kerala to Bangalore yesterday. Crossed Walayar around 7 Am, traffic was routed through the service road, and though there were some cops inside the temp checkpost, vehicles were not being stopped for checks. Same at Attibele as well.

Are they blocking entry every weekend? Is there any restriction going towards Kerala on Saturday/Sunday?

Re: All Roads to Kerala

Had a Round trip to Madurai, yesterday, through the Aryankavu check post and returned back via Walayar check post.

Proper verification & checking at the Arayankavu check post. They examine & note down TN Epass & Vaccination certificate.

There is no person at all to checkat Walayar checkpost. It is understandable, as of now Kerala can only export covid cases, As the old Malayalam saying goes, Don't try to export petrol to Dubai.

Re: All Roads to Kerala

Planning to drive down to Thrissur on the upcoming Sunday (30th January 2022). As Sunday lockdown is announced, will interstate travel also be blocked?

Re: All Roads to Kerala

To all weekend travellers, there remains no concerns at all entering Kerala. No checks of any sort.

From what i understand about this circular, any and all restriction that was there at Night or during the weekend lockdowns is also lifted.

Even though i know the gist that there wont be any restrictions anymore. Can one of the members here help translate salient points of this Tamil document into English for the sake of the rest of the members.

Re: All Roads to Kerala

Walayar: Update as on 29th Jan 2022
Towards Kerala : No entry restriction, no cops, absolutely nothing.

Towards Tamilnadu: Vehicles are still being diverted to service lane. No cops stopping anybody during day time at all. Till last week I was made to understand that there was checking during Tamilnadu mandated lockdown times. (at night between 10 PM to 5 AM and weekends, even here people were let through with vaccination certificates)
Based on the new press release i had pasted two posts ago those also would not be applicable anymore. I have noted a gap of 2 odd days between press release and actual implementation. So please carry double vaccination certificate if you are planning to enter Tamilnadu between 10 PM to 5 AM just in case.

Re: All Roads to Kerala

My cousin was stopped at Walayar last Sunday and not allowed to enter Kerala due to the lockdown. But since he had a medical emergency and showed the papers (medical related), he was able to enter Kerala.

Make a note of this for those coming to KL on Sunday.

This Asianet report says the same- Unless it is for emergency purposes, entry to Kerala at Walayar will not be allowed. The article is in Malayalam though. could not find an English version.

Re: All Roads to Kerala

Came through Marayur, Chinnar on Saturday from Munnar to Bangalore. In TN there is Covid post at the second check post. They asked if we are double vaccinated, but did not check the certificates, they noted one mobile number and let us go.

There was no Covid related checks while we entered Kerala through the same route on previous Saturday. Excise check post guy gave a friendly warning on the next day's Sunday lockdown assuming we are tourists.

Hi.
So I did the trip Monday 31st jan, reached Walayar around 8 am. No checks at TN side, but still I did take a TN epass just in case. No one stopped us, but traffic was diverted to service lane. Coming back into Kerala was a breeze. No stops, no checks just waltzed our way back. One important thing to look out is to reach Kuthiran early or during non rush hour as the tunnel towards Palakkad is single lane now and we saw a massive line forming. Also new speed guns (in highway police Ertigas) have started to appear between Mannuthy and Pattikkad. Please be careful.
