PS: It shows the NICE road from Hosur road to Mysore road ONLY. But in real, the road is connected to Tumkur road which is not shown in this map.
So is the stretch from tumkur to Mysore road complete and motorable? Where does one get on to NICE from Tumkur road?

Mysore Rd->Tumkur Rd is missing from google map, although the road very much exists and is motorable.

This thread should be merged with https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/route...bangalore.html (Query: NICE Road - Bangalore)

Does anyone else feel the road surface of NICE corridor between Bannerghatta Road and Mysore road has deteriorated since it opened? Ofcourse, it still is quite a good road. Its just that earlier it used to be a lot better.

IMO this is the best road existing in bangalore if you want to check your maximum speed of the car . I have taken a volvo XC70 to 190 Kph on this road last year

Last year was a long time ago.
Last year i pushed my OHC to 200k's (as per speedo) on this very road. But i wont do that now.

Actually, i did not notice the deterioration until one of my co-passengers pointed it out.

Exactly. Bumpier is the word.
Compare that to IRR, which still has quite a smooth surface, except for the nasty bump near the u-turn.

TOI 16oct 09, is any one still bothered about NICE?

NICE is following interim order: govt

Tells HC No Further Construction Has Taken Place On Peripheral Road Near Gottigere Tank

TIMES NEWS NETWORK

Bangalore: The government has told the high court that NICE — promoter of the Bengalore-Mysore Infrastructure Project (BMIC) project — has not undertaken any further construction on the peripheral road near Gottigere tank, in accordance with an interim order passed on September 24.
A statement to this effect — filed by Subir Hari Singh, principal secretary to the industries and commerce department, and the PWD chief engineer — was on Thursday submitted to the division Bench headed by Justice Manjula Chellur hearing the case.
The court had earlier asked the chief secretary, PWD secretary, industries secretary and revenue secretary to see to it that its interim order was being complied with by the company. The court had observed that based on prima facie evidence, it was constrained to pass such an interim measure to prevent violation of the order passed on March 19, 2009. In that order, the company was directed to construct the road over the lake without affecting flow of water.
The Bench is hearing a civil contempt petition filed by Vijayaraghavan, alleging that the court’s earlier orders were being violated by NICE.

Speed up NICE road: SC to govt - TOI, 28oct09

Speed up NICE road: SC to govt

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday directed the Karnataka government to constitute a high-level committee headed by chief minister B S Yeddyurappa for early completion of the delayed multicrore Bangalore-Mysore Expressway Project.
A three-judge Bench of Justices Tarun Chatterjee, R M Lodha and Deepak Verma, while making it clear that the meeting should be chaired by the chief minister and attended by the chief secretary and other high-ranking officials, directed the state to file a status report within three weeks. The states advocate-general Ashok Harnahally earlier told the Bench that Karnataka has already allotted 7,000 acres to the promoter, Nandi Infrastructure Corporation and Enterprise Limited (NICE), and assured that the state would not come in the way of the projects smooth execution.
He urged the court to direct NICE to stick to the alignment of the route as per the originally approved plan. The project , estimated to cost over Rs 1,500 crore, aims to construct an 111-km long expressway between Bangalore and Mysore. It will be dotted with five satellite townships.
The project had been mired in controversy and hit a roadblock after former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy came to power in 2004 and sought to halt it, alleging irregularities in land allotment, including sanction of excess land. His father and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda had also written a book, alleging massive corruption and irregularities in allotment of the project by the then Congress government.

By the way, just on a different note, they are fighting only on Bangalore side of it.

What is the status on the actual link to Mysore? Why are they not concentrating on that side of things?

Whats wrong with the current road to Mysore ? If we have an expressway to Mysore, the same things will be repeated on that as it is now on the old road. Plus the extra toll. I pray they do something about the existing roads and forget about well linked ones.

The only thing that would be gained would be real estate development in the new areas !

Guys,

I stay in in Koramangala, can somebody suggest the best route to get onto NICE road towards Tumkur given the latest changes.

Is it safe to travel on this stretch at night now considering that i will be travelling with wifey & kids on my return trip? I have read some old posts advising against night travel on this stretch.
