I travelled end to end today that is Neelmangala to Electronic City. It was ₹285, which Used to be ₹185 the last time I took this entire stretch (the week when IKEA opened in June 2022). That’s ~54% hike in 2 years.

This is getting to the level of frustrating now. E-City to Tumkur was 240 and now 285. At 14km/litre and price of about 90 per litre diesel charges would come about Rs. 263. So toll is now even higher than fuel charges for using NICE road. Nandi infrastructure knows that the convenience it brings, people will still be using it.

Hi. I did a Coorg-Bangalore run yesterday and entered Nice Road (Mys Rd to Tumkur Rd) around 1400h. Road conditions are good with low density traffic at that hour. No congestion at the toll booths. Reached Mathikere at 1445h. Toll charges was Rs 115.

Elevated Section/Electronic City
- Tollable Length: 10Kms
- Single Journey charge: Rs.60
- Toll rate - Rs.6/km

NICE Road
- Tollable Length: 8 Kms (Hosur Road - Bannerghatta Road)
- Single Journey charge (only): Rs.60
- Toll rate - Rs.7.5/km

On top of this, NICE road doesn't even give the benefit of two way. It is Rs.90 for the elevated toll way if you travel both ways on the same day but if you have to do that on the NICE road for the given example, one has to shell out Rs.120. That makes the equation even worse.

I don't have the entire list but the price increase is at an average of a straggering 15% to 20%.
The per km toll for this road is now close to ₹7

The middle class gets milked further. After horrendous amounts of road tax at purchase, GST and whatnot on fuel, the tolls keep getting expensive.

Also, are we sure this is the most expensive road? The Bandra Worli Sea Link in Mumbai charges Rs. 100 one way, which is a 5.6 km road. That comes to almost Rs. 18 per km.

I was not sure of the BWSL road toll. If that is ₹18/km, I stand corrected on the title for NICE road.

However NICE road is still worth only may be half of what is right now.

Initially it was 120 Kmph, then they moved it to 80, and now for safety reasons they have moved it back to 120 Kmph .

Maybe they increased the speed limit to justify the toll price.

NICE is supposed to increase toll charges after govt consent. The rules mention that it needs to be sent to govt and only if govt does not respond within 30 days, they can unilaterally increase the tolls.
The department says they have not received the proposal from NICE at all.

Anybody knows if the cameras on Nice road are dishing out speeding tickets? Has it started?
