Gurgaon to Agra

Hi Guys,
I値l be travelling to Agra from my home in Gurgaon and plan to take the newly opened DME till Khalilpur and then the WPE till Palwal for entering the NH-2 (Old Delhi Agra Road)

From there on, had a few choices and wanted to check with bhpians here for their views:

1) Should I continue onto Nh-2 or does it make sense to take the left post entering NH-2 (Bamani Khera) for taking the Tappal entry of the YEW? Is it advisable considering road quality or is too much of a hassle?

2) Incase I continue through on Nh-2, Google Maps is showing me a route through Vrindavan to enter the YEW? Any idea of the condition of this road or should I continue on the NH-2 through Mathura Byepass all the way to Agra

3) On the way back, since I値l be coming in during evening peak hour time, wanted to take the YEW but plan to get off to take WPE-DME route home to Gurgaon, any advise on which exit to take? Have heard horror stories about Palwal exit on YEW to WPE route

4) Lastly, any idea if there is any way to use the EPE to get on to the YEW, I see Pelak Interchange reference on Google Maps ( From
Aligarh Palwal route to YEW) but don稚 see an entry point there so wanted to be sure before taking that route

Thanks in advance

Assuming that you are planning to visit Taj Mahal and return on the same evening/ night.

I frequently visit Agra from North-West Gurgaon and as trip almost always starts early in morning (around 5.30am), the Delhi - Noida - YEW route is taken. It's longer by almost 45~50km, but very relaxing to drive. If you choose to take this route, go till the very end (Ramada Plaza Hotel) and then go to Taj.

Else, just follow DME - KMP - NH2 route. This will be slightly congested, but otherwise OK. I won't recommend Sohna/KMP - Palwal - YEW link.

On return in evening, as Noida/Delhi is congested, NH2 - KMP - DME is recommended. You still will face congestion in Agra, Mathura.

Hi, just traveled on this route last week, and took the following route: YEW - Tappal Exit (before Jewar toll) to get onto NH 334D - NH19 (towards Agra) - WPE. Road conditions are good for the most part in the linking section from YEW - WPE barring a 1 km long stretch near Palwal (before getting on the Palwal bypass to merge with NH19).

Thanks, Autonoob but unfortunately will be leaving around the afternoon as it is a working day, hence the need for a non-Noida route

Thanks, amartya_bhp, final plan is to use DME-KMP-NH2 for the way in and the YEW-Tappal Exit-NH 334D-NH19 -WPE for the way back. Will update post the trip

Re: Gurgaon to Agra

Hi Guys, finally made the trip as suggested and have the following updates/observations :

1) The DME- KMP, while operational, is still in nascent stages so rather than Google maps, trust the signs and your judgement to get on to the right road; I知 sure will get better as more people use the DME-KMP stretch
2) This stretch of the KMP has started cratering a bit especially on the right and middle lane and some shoddy patchwork has made the entire stretch quite bumpy at high speeds; you would be better served to maintain a speed of around 80-85 at best rather than the 100 km speed limit if you don稚 want to bounce around
2) On the route back, the stretch before entering Palwal has become worse considering the rain that the region has recently seen ( some areas were a bit waterlogged while others around the Palwalrural region on the Google maps showed some major wear and tear), hence lost some time on navigating this stretch and the typically annoying single lane traffic issues that one encounters but overall a very good route with able to experience both the YEW and the KMP-DME connection without the need to enter Delhi and struggle with city traffic

Thanks once again to everyone for the advise

Re: Gurgaon to Agra

Thanks Chewbecca, AutoNoob, and amartya_bhp for the very useful inputs. I'm planning to do this route in 2 days. I'll be leaving around 8:00 am on 29th Jun (Thursday) and planning to get back on 1st Jul (Saturday) leaving Agra around 10:30 am.

@Chewbecca, how was NH2 after getting off from WPE?

Also, given I'm starting on a Saturday morning it might make sense to go via Gurgaon - Delhi - Noida - YEW - Agra, just wondering what would make sense on the way back:

1. NH2 - WPE - DME - Gurgaon
2. YEW - Palwal - WPE - DME - Gurgaon (or the same route but via Bamani Khera instead of Palwal Rural)
3. YEW - Noida - Delhi - Gurgaon

Please share suggestions and if any of you has been on this route in the last few weeks. Thanks!

Hey Floydian,
Sorry I missed replying to this in time. Hope you had a decent ride on the routes you mentioned, but I will still answer the query based on my experience a couple of months back:

1) The route is quite good all through, including the NH-2 and is one of the best routes in my experience as it allows you to really make some decent time during your trip, even despite comparing with YEW (Rajiv Chowk-DME-KMP are at an average speed of 100+). On a weekend as well, I will still recommend this (Ggn-Noida is a pain these days with the roads all dug up and amazingly, traffic builds up earlier than normal these days), but it depends on how far are you from Rajiv Chowk

2) I took the Palwalrural route on my way back and the road was a bit cratered in parts due to some rain that had fallen a few days before my trip, and I would assume would have got worse in the Monsoons. I did not take the Bamani Khera route (even when Google Maps was forcing me to) since I have had bad experiences in the past with UP SHs, but if you did, would be great to know your experience.
