Pune - Ratnagiri

I will be travelling from Pune to Ratnagiri this weekend.
Google suggests NH 48 via Karad.

I read the Pune Satara patch is now in good condition. Cannot wait to check for myself. How is rest of the road? Any recent travellers on this route?
Any heads up, tips and suggestions are most welcome.

.
I haven't driven on the Mahad - Chiplun section off-late but what I heard is that the roads were damaged in recent floods around Chiplun area.
I feel it is better to stick to Pune - Karad NH48 section to be on the safer side.

The road from Karad- Kokrud Malkapur - Amba ghat is in very good shape except a few patches in Amba ghat. Post descent to Sakharpa it is a decent road right upto Ratnagiri city.

Re: Pune - Ratnagiri

I am back.
Took the NH48+SH166 route (Pune Karad Kokrud Maklapur)

NH48 was frustrating. Numerous trucks in the fast lane.
Compared to this, SH 166 was a breeze. I managed to drive in the 70-90 band 80% of the time as the road condition is very good. In some patches, not so good, but saw repair crew doing their magic in quite a few areas.
