There have been some voices against this for not having good number of interchanges. Hope its not designed for Bengaluru-Mysuru without allowing anyone to get on and out in between

Travelled to Mysore today morning. I could cover the finished sections of the expressway in good time. I tried to keep it under 100 using cruise, but the road is very inviting and a ton on the speedometer felt quite slow.
Post the finished section, some of the deviations are in bad condition especially near Maddur. Keeping my fingers crossed to see a quick completion of the expressway.

A quick question - Planning to travel to Nagarhole on 18 Sep and thinking of taking the Bangalore Nelamangal Pandavapura route. Any issues with this route? how is the road and traffic?

Asking specifically because we heard some folks cautioning us that thanks to the rains the roads have been blocked and traffic has come to standstill though I find it hard to believe.

Drove on this road soon after a rain. Water is stagnating on the road making it dangerous to drive. I experienced a completely blinding splash of water while driving on that route today. Unlike what you see as caught by the camera, for naked eyes it was fully binding. I was doing probably 70 kmph and instinctively slowed down which turned out to be right as the car ahead of me slowed down too.

Further, stagnating water is causing both lose of traction and momentary drop in speed. I was feeling 70kmph safe but slowed down to 60 when I felt lose in traction. I fear the unscientific design of the road is going to cause accidents!

Recent rains has caused mayhem in Bangalore Mysore section. Was adviced against travelling. Came across this shorts in youtube.

This is an old video from a month ago when there was a lake breach.
I travelled on this road this Sunday, no waterlogging and more sections of the Expressway is now open.

Drove on this Road on 30th September on my way to Madikeri. I left Gottigere and took the Nice road at around 3:50 PM and was near Columbia Asia junction by 6:10 PM. I was very excited that I could reach almost Mysore in 2 hour 20 minutes, then got stuck for 40 minutes in the traffic near Columbia Asia signal. I Was stand still for 30 minutes.

Here are my observations of the Expressway

1. I don't think the road is built for speed in excess of 100 KMPH. Some of the curves are a bit sharp for my liking and will cause accidents when the traffic opens in full
2. When I took the Expressway just before Bidadi, it started to pour and there were lot of stagnant water on the road. What surprised me was that the stagnant water was more on the right side next the divider. There were no proper drainage system.
3. Scenery is nice, was bored of the Old Mysore road restaurants and traffic scene. So this is a bit refreshing.
4. Fence had been cut in few places already and two wheelers were popping in and out of these gaps. Hope the authorities fix this before the toll starts

I just hope once the expressway completes, so does the Kanakapura 4-lane. And there would be even distribution of traffic. Especially with respect to entering Mysore.

Travelled yesterday (15th Oct, Saturday) from Bangalore to Mysore. Mysore road NICE exit to Maddur was a breeze. Was at Mysore Rd - Nice junction at 8 AM, and I believe Ramnagara at 8:30.

Post Maddur, we were diverted to Malavalli route as there was a lake overflow.
The normal Malavalli - Mysore road was also blocked due to another lake overfloe, so we took the next right after Malavalli and went via T Narsimhapura / Kollegall-Mysore highway.

Absolute pleasure to drive on this road as well, just that the overall time took 4 hours due to the confusion. (Reached at 11:30ish). Note that this is an undivided highway with 1 lane on each side, but luckily there was not much traffic.

By evening, I'm told the Malavalli - Mysore route was reopened though Bangalore Mysore via Maddur was still blocked.

I used the Expressway yesterday 15 Oct to go to Ooty.
Left home 0500 hrs. Used the city route through Richmond road and City Market Flyover and all.
Expressway was fun even though there was a good incessant downpour all the way upto Mysore. Flying over Ramnagara and Channapatna and all was superb.
Cant wait for the onward journey Kengeri/ Bidadi piece to open fully.
Except for the Maddur and Mandya area where the usual diversions were in place. But the road surfaces seem to have been done up at least.
Im sure once that section of Expressway opens up it will be a huge relief.
Reached Mysore Swad Restaurant / Columbia Asia junction at 0730. Quick wash up.
From there a nice zoom on the Mysore ring road to Nanjangud. Gundlupet. Bandipur. A 45 min breakfast stop at Pug Marks. A photo of a handsome langur on the roadside. Masinagudi. Sigur. Ooty. Was parked at my destination in Ooty at 1130am.

Today 16 Oct we left Ooty at 10am after a leisurely breakfast. Used the Gudalur route. Thick mist almost all the way from T R Bazaar up to Gudalur. A nice Tusker at the border between Mudumalai and Bandipur. Then a stop at Bandipur Pug Marks for a wash. Some pictures of a few elephants on the ridge opposite. Then Gundlupet. Nanjangud. Low traffic. Great sunshine. Onto the Mysore Ring road. A comfort stop at Kasthuri for a veg meal. Onto the Expressway. Some irritating deviations here and there throughout. Usual Mandya and Maddur slowness. Road surfaces thank god are ok. And then a few more ups and downs in and out of the Expressway. Bright sunshine throughout. The last bit at the Expressway exit near the 4 Head Ganesha idol was a bit chaotic especially after the fast expressway. Then the Nice road exit. Usual darting in and out video games with trucks and other vehicles. Out at the Hosur road exit and home by 445pm.

The new Expressway is good. It felt good to drive on it in my Cooper. Its definitely a good road for a good car. But the traffic is not at all disciplined. And there are sudden surprises on the surface here and there. And therr are some stretches where fruit vendors have set up shop and the traffic using the Expressway is stopping and buying.

I hope once the work is completed all this type of stuff will stop.

But all in all, this Expressway will be a big big Boon to us users.

Drove on it on Sunday the 23rd of October. Most stretches are nice. however wonder why so many curves have been retained when there was no geographic feature preventing straightening of the road?

Insane driving by a lot of people, we counted 3 two wheeler and 1 car accident. luckily no loss of life.
Absolutely no lane discipline, slow vehicles continue to occupy multiple lanes and people do straddle lanes.

One Hack: The new service road bypassing Mandya is open, turn off towards Melkote when approaching from Mysore and hit the service road, avoids all of Mandya except for one level crossing, which was thankfully open for us, the rest is a breeze
