Have you tried replicating this in other highways? If it exists only in this expressway, then the surface has developed some undulations which is sad to say the least.
If not, it might be that your shock absorbers are weak/worn out due to wear and tear. Since balancing has already been done, we can rule it out assuming it's done at a reputable place.

NHAI has issued an official notification banning/not allowing 2 wheelers, etc on the Bangalore-Mysore expressway from 01 Aug 2023. With so many unmanned (and unplanned) entry and exits, not sure how they plan implement this.

Came across this notification this morning and i too had the same questions like you. I am sure we are going to witness a huge drama on Aug 1st 2023 like we saw when the toll was implemented.

Unless they close multiple entry and exit on this expressway this ban on motorcycle and three wheelers will not work.

I am curious to see how people of Mandya, Srirangapatna are going to take this news.

Quite right. The problem is broader than 2-wheelers. Trucks going at 40kmph (sometimes without tail-lights or even reflectors) are as much a threat to safety. As are motorists who choose to stop on the expressway for whatever reason.

Large variations in speed between vehicles is the fundamental problem. Larger the variation in speed, greater is the occurrence of zig-zagging and accidents at those speeds have severe results.

Like there is an upper speed limit, a lower speed limit must also be enforced to reduce this variability, which will reduce the constant need to switch lanes and will help reduce accidents.
Of course, other aspects like road worthiness, enforcement, emergency evacuation need improvement as well to bring down the accident rates.

Totally agree. Especially if they are in the fast lane doing way under the speed limit. This is one of the major problems in Bangalore's ORR with autos and small tempos hogging the right lane and driving at 20kmph and then cutting off everyone when they need to exit.

This is a problem on all Indian highways, even state-owned buses occupy the high-speed lane and shuffle across frequently to overtake other slow-moving vehicles on the right lane. I saw a few exit points right in front of the famous eateries, whether this was the use of influence or genuine exits is a question. Quite strange that most of the fuel stations adjacent to the expressway do not have entry or exit points.

Not really and I wouldn't want to quote examples of highways where trucks don't dare to hog the right lane and mind their business of cruising or overtaking within the first 2 lanes. However, on Bangalore Mysore Highway, even if the first 2 lanes are empty, you will see KSRTC buses stuck next to the median on the overtaking lane for absolutely no reason. Then comes the Tata Aces and Ashley Dosts who think they are driving a multi axle trailer.

This one's not from Mysore Bangalore highway but this is how the scene is when it comes to even empty stretch of Chitradurga bypass too. That Police bus has no business wherever it is. On Mysore Bangalore highway, you will find aplenty of these specimen.

I just came back from an unplanned drive to Mysore, thanks to the infrastructure which makes this a 90-minute drive but how to deal with people who have no road sense and keep blocking the right lane. While coming back it was raining heavily and it was frustrating to see trucks, and buses blocking the right and left lanes forcing people to adopt zig-zag driving.

This IMO should be considered as a drastic reactionary step that they needed to do. Most importantly, it begs the question, why should they not hold the rewardingly paid firm that designed the safety aspect of the highway road, to be responsible for the financial loss that this move will cause ?

AI to detect traffic violators. Good move I think.

However, the same article says there is a variable speed limit by lane on this expressway. News to me. Travelled a month or so ago, only saw boards like the following.

Regardless, 60-80-100 kmph across 3 lanes is too much variation. Looks to be unscientifically designed imho.

On a lighter note, if you are to overtake a KSRTC bus leisurely doing a 60kmph on the right lane, you are supposed to decelerate into the middle or left lane to do this.

If the AI cameras can help enforce lane discipline it would be nice.

If the authorities can impose penalties for driving based on the speed in multiple lanes, it may bring some discipline, but it is doubtful whether they can do so on trucks and buses.

You should look on the overhead structures - like, flyovers that cross the expressway. There are sections where the limits are 60-80-100 and also sections with limits 80-100-120.

Already the AI cameras on the expressway have failed. Can imagine the quick buck someone has made
