Dear All, On February 12th, I travelled from Bangalore to Bandipur using the Mysore motorway. The majority of the diversions, including entering the town of Mandya, have already been finished. Before Mandya, near the Lemongrass Hotel, there is only one tiny construction underway. Apart from this, it's now a breeze, and we can easily finish the Bangalore-Mysore journey in 1.5 hours. Since we Indians do not understand the importance of lane discipline, even if the road has eight lanes, we will still cause congestion. Several times during my drive, I have seen cars trying to squeeze between trucks, causing a commotion that from a distance appears to be ants fighting over sugar.

I had taken the BMEW both ways for a return trip to Calicut (2nd out, 4th in). I counted 5 diversions on that day - enumerating them from the Bangalore end:

1. Between Maddur and Mandya (Halebudanur).
2. Far end of Mandya, as soon as the bypass ends (Induvalu).
3. Between Mandya and Srirangapatna, at the junction where the road to Pandavapura originates (Ragimuddanahalli).
4. Near end of Srirangapatna bypass.
5. From far end of Srirangapatna bypass, almost all the way till Columbia Asia junction.

Note that while #1-4 are single interchanges/flyovers, but #5 is basically an unfinished section of the road that is several kilometres long.

Thank You, when I went on January 16th, there was only one diversion near Mandya.

Took the Bangalore-Mysore Expressway on 15th Feb and returned through the same on 16th Feb during my trip to Ooty.

I can safely say, it's about 99% complete. There are three (albeit short ~ 1 to 1.5 km long) diversions between Mysore and Mandya on both sides, and that's about it. The remaining portions are full on three-laned bliss.

The Mandya bypass is open, finally and thanks to that, was able to do Kengeri Flyover to Manipal Hospital Junction in 75 mins flat while hovering around 100-110 kmph.

As much of an outright hazard this expressway is during the rains, it is quite an epic runway when dry.

Yes 3/4 of them and they will be there for some more time. Bypasses are fully operational.

Spot on, this took us by surprise when we drove last Sunday Feb 19. My friend was driving the car and a combination of good luck, skill and lower speed saved the day. There was no indication or marking and it was all too sudden. There was a bullock cart trying to merge in from the left, an Alto that had slowed down to a crawl in front of us and dry sand+soil, the perfect recipe for skidding, but my friend managed to manouevre out of trouble.

We encountered 4 in all - the last one due to a work in progress underpass just before the expressway ends. This was in the Bangalore-Mysore direction.

Except for the first one, other diversions were marked.

We took 90 minutes from entry to exit of the expressway.

It's open for 2 wheelers, tractors, JCBs, 3 wheelers, all and sundry welcome. Apparently this is till tolling starts. But my guess is that no way they can stop 2/3 wheelers with the number of illegal entry /exit paths made on the eway.

True, it is going to be huge challenge to restrict/control the "disallowed" traffic, at far too many places, there are exits from and to the service road and at many places the fence separating the service road and main carriageway have been damaged/cut open and then there are always those who love "short cuts".

When we stopped for lunch at a restaurant on the service road, I saw a Kia Seltos parked on the left lane of the main carriageway and the family entered the service road through a hole in the fence and made their way to the restaurant

Assuming of course this is for the entire NICE road to Columbia Asia stretch.

There are two toll booths. It should be 135 rs each .
