Hello friends,
Am planning a Hyderabad-Mumbai drive next week. I am going to have a friend with me to operate as a co-driver. Plan is to start at around 5 am in the morning from Hyderabad (HiTech city).

Is it still better to use the Alland-Akkalkot-Sedam-Kalaburgi route instead of NH9 (Google maps shows NH9 the first preference); especially after some heavy rains in recent past?

Current insights would be very helpful.

Hi Guys, I am planning a Hyderabad trip from Mumbai on 23-Dec with family in my Ford Aspire. I will be starting from Mumbai at 5 am and hope to reach Hyderabad by 6 pm. I will be staying at Hitech city. The itinerary is as below-
24- Nehru zoo and NTR Gardens,
25 - Ramoji Film city
26 - Golconda fort, Qutub Shahi tombs, Lubini Park, Birla temple
27- Salar Jung Museum, Charminar and Laad bazar.

Please suggest if it is doable. Also I am concerned about the parking at all the above place. I know Charminar and Laad bazar parking is not there, but for other places is there parking place?

I'm planning to do Hyderabad - Kolhapur on 27th December. Will be travelling with a 2.5 years old and I'll be the solo driver.
For Gachibowli to Kalaburgi, should I take the Sedam road or the ORR and then the expressway till Humnabad and then to Kalaburgi?
Any idea on latest road condition of Bijapur - Athani - Miraj - Kolhapur stretch? Shall I follow this route or any other better option is there?

Please note this has been rescheduled to February 2nd instead of 23rd Jan'18. The said bridge will be taken for repair between Feb 2nd to Feb 21st.

Just finished a Bombay-Hyderabad road trip on my 2+ yr old Ford Ecosport Diesel. Chembur (PL Lokhande Marg) to Kondapur, Hitec city.
Started Sunday morning at 0435
Started Km - 51925
end Km - 51616
end time - 1426
total time - 9 hours 51 mins, incl two stops for diesel and a cup of tea.
Total diesel - less than 40 Lts.
Total toll paid Rs. 730. (first toll on Solapur road waived off!!)

Had my smokes and mum made idli-podi to keep me company

Mumbai - Pune: below average traffic - could maintain steady speeds of 110-120, except for the sharp turns at the ghats.
Entered the Pune-Bangalore road around 6.20am.. and again, very marginal traffic. could manage a steady 110.
exited the NH in under 10 minutes and entered Baner road to cut across Pune. +15 minutes and I was on Solapur road by 0645.
Mild traffic up to the 2nd toll booth and after that the highway was virtually empty! Could manage a steady 120.
Reached the Solapur bypass before 9.30 and another 10 minutes exit into NH 65 and then complete chaos! After this.. my top speed was 80.. and most 40-50. The most painful 100 km.. on something they call roads. :( 100 km in around 2hrs 20 minutes.
Crossed the border around 1150 and entered AP and got some really world class roads here. 195 kms.. Awesome!! except for the annoying (deaf and dumb) bikers who wanted to ride in the fast lane.. except for the checkpost barriers in the middle of nowhere. Could manage a steady 120 for most part.. except around Sangareddy.
Reached my destination at Kondapur at 1426.

Sorry.. didn't take any pics.. was just busy enjoying things with my own eyes..!! :P

Verdict: I had travelled this road by Volvo bus a month earlier and it was a grueling 14+ hour ride! Although there are some threads that suggest an alternate route after Solapur (via akkalkot-aland) I would suggest stick to the NH route.

Any latest updates on the 100 km bad stretch ? Please do mention any alternatives to bypass that bad stretch.

Latest update , just travelled mumbai-hyderabad using nh65 , the 100 km bad patch on Maharashtra side till omerga has drastically improved , if initially it was 25% good and 75% bad its now vice versa , was pleasantly surprised , maybe the election year is going to be a boon and work will be fully done in next 4-5 months

Should not take more than 1.5 hours for the 100 km depending on truck traffic as well . Still it's under construction with lots of diversions and mostly one side is completed in stretches , naldurg stretch is not touched yet and pretty much the worst part .

Drove to Hyderabad from Mumbai and back last Diwali week. While going, left Powai, Mumbai at 9:45am with a brief stopover at Pune and reached Gachibowli, Hyderabad at 11pm. Around 80km after Solapur isn't great with lot of diversions. Since it was evening when I entered that stretch, the speed slowed down drastically.
On the return stretch, I moved off at 10am from Gachibowli and had lunch at 2pm at Khan Chacha hotel near Solapur. So I covered 292kms in 4 hours. Later on Pune city traffic slowed me down considerably and reached Wakad, Pune at 8pm. Reached Powai, Mumbai at 11pm.

No, roads starting from Omerga till Solapur is bad, specially near Naldurg. One section is totally messed up thanks to construction (around 2 kms) where speeds go down to 5/10 kmph. After Solapur its good.

I did HYD /Pune twice last week and average time was 7/8 hrs. So you can add up pune to mumbai time.

Did Mumbai-Hyderabad-Mumbai last week.
Left from Malad at 6:00am and reached ITC Kohenur, Hyderabad around 4:30pm.

The last time I did this trip was in 2018 I guess and I remember taking considerably more amount of time. This time the roads were all in good condition except for the 3km stretch between Omerga and Naldurg. I tried applying for e-pass but it got rejected. Luckily didn't face stringent checking(they just noted down the details).

Enroute Hyderabad:

One more thing aiding the short travel time was Pune lockdown I feel as there was sparse vehicular traffic both while going and coming back.

Return was also uneventful, we left at 1pm from Patancheru,Hyderabad and reached Mumbai around 11:30pm. We didn't stop any where for food just fuel and bio breaks.

Enroute Mumbai:

Would definitely recommend going by car to Hyderabad, keeping in mind the current situation.

Did a HYD to MUM run this Saturday. NH 65 is in great shape barring the notorious stretch that resembles the lunar surface just before Solapur.

Anyone passing through Pune - Put on your masks even within your car when in the city. I was left poorer by 500 INR.

Apparently the pune municipal corporation has a rule requiring it.
