Mumbai to Puna

First in my life....
This is the first road which is the best according to me.

Easily the Mumbai-Expressway. Some people have posted that its concrete, well considering the amount of rainfall that the road receives, there is no other alternative to concrete

The Delhi Jaipur road is also really good.

Chennai-Pondicherry East Coast Road.

And for sheer scenic beauty nothing comes close to the Manali-Leh highway. Although the road is not smooth at almost any point, and at many places there is no road, this gets my vote as the ultimate driving/riding holiday.

Hey! My first post.. I dont think this has been mentioned earlier, but there is a new road called chennai IT rd( 6 lanes and seperate service lanes) it stertches from Madhya Kailash till Siruseri. The remaning road's not completed.

You can see different kinds of artists works on the roadsides with lots of greenery too. Not one of the best since there is traffic.

Anyways worth mentioning, the efforts of the chennai govt.

Please try Hosur to Krishnagiri (Bangalore - Salem highway).

Whatz cool?

1. Very scenic, with neatly maintained Gardens in the median
2. Fantastic and clean roads
3. Mountain view
4. Lots of Up hill and down hill, nice road to check out your car's
power.
5. The only road where you can easily overtake lorries who go
at 10 KMPH due to the uphill :-)

Please take a U turn before Krishnagiri unless you want your car's belly
to be bruised.!!! Bad bad roads, but don't know the situation now.

NH4 is one of the best in between Belgaum and Pune and then tag along the Mumbai -Pune Xpressway. To me it was an awesome drive and i suppose many who had done this stretch agree to it.

Bangalore-Chennai Expressway. I have driven on this road when returning from Kanchi. The road is the same that mhafeez has mentioned but you have to take a left near Krishnagiri and take the expressway to Chennai. The road is the same as it is between Krishnagiri-Blore. Infact it is much better at places as well. That and the Expressway from Belgaum to Pune (did not go further than that since I was travelling to Shirdi) when I did my marathon run in the Indica of 2000 kms round trip in 4 days.

Mumbai - Pune Expressway is best in term of quality and modern. Not necessarily my favourite though. I prefer highways that are paved well and has gentle curves and well as gentle ascent and descent. In this perspective, Mumbai-Pune Expressway is pretty boring. You press your foot down and stare ahead for hours.

I would vote for L&T highway coimbatore.

I second that. My in laws stay in Kolhapur and my parents in Belgaum. This stretch between the two cities is one of the best I've ever come across.

This is the reason I hit this road quite often even though I know I'll end up at my in laws placelol:

till date mumbai-pune expressway is best. but with so many NH across india are widening and with GQ, many states will have such expressway soon.

I think Greater Noida has the best roads in the country. I'm yet to see a whole city with such beautiful wide roads with dividers everywhere.
All roads are straight as an arrow, good for speed testing but gets boring after some time when u start running out of bhp....:)

27km long Raipur - Durg Expressway (Part of NH-6). It is the best road to drive on here in Chattisgarh. Other than that a small single lane road from Kawardha to Bhoramdeo Mandir. 18kms of sceanic beaty. Here are some pics:

Greater Noida Expressway..:)

A couple of short but very beautiful routes.
Madikeri - Thalacavery and Madikeri - Virajpet: Well maintained roads and fantastic scenery with the occasional coffee estates by the side. Pleasure to drive on.

NMA

Mumbai Pune Expressway.:)
