1) Trichy-Sathy-T.Narsipura-Mysore
2) Trichy-Salem-Hosur-Bangalore-Mysore
Planning the same tomorrow, 23rd using option 1.
Will update you once I see through the roads.
If anyone have recent experience going through Sathyamangalam, please let us know.

Trichy > Bangalore > Mysore seems additional 125Kms and no speed can make it quicker.

Hi, Not sure if you have already decided the route. Just got back and couldn't update you before this time!

If you like the highway drive with restaurant and toilet facilities while on move, then, Trichy > Salem > Hosur > Bangalore > Mysore is THE option.

Trichy > Salem > Hosur > Bangalore > Mysore:

Pros:
1. Good highway roads but for initial 80+ KMs till Namakkal.
2. Enough Eateries and Rest Room facilities, almost every 100 KMs.
3. Peaceful drive having roads with median almost all through.

Cons:
1. Toll charges.
2. Around 120 KMs more, yet you may spend additional 30 mins only on the road as its all NH.

Trichy-Sathy-T.Narsipura-Mysore

Pros:
1. Shorter distance by 120 KMs.
2. Limited Scenic drive - Sathyamangalam forest and Ghat section with 27 HP bends [if you like].
3. Less Toll charges.

Cons:
1. Pathetic roads almost the entire stretch.
2. You go through every village and town.
3. All are 2 way traffic roads. Overtaking is just too hard.
4. Spend a lot of time in road though 120 KMs less distance covered.
5. Absolutely NO Rest Room facility at all.
6. No proper restaurants to eat.

Net-net - If I have to go to Mysore the next time, I would just take the Salem > Hosur.

Hope it helps!
Prem.

Plans have changed and now its Tambaram to Mysore via Bangalore. Any recommendations to stay in budget but decent accommodation near Mysore palace?
