You can take self drive cars to Ladakh but cannot go to any sightseeing places. You will have to park the car and rent another bike/car with LA number plate and they are very strict about this. There will be many check posts and you will be stopped. Private number plates are allowed if you have the car on your name or carry a NOC if you are bringing someone else's car.

I am doing Bangalore-Leh by road with my own car in 1st week of June and DM me if you change your plans and decide to take your car instead, we can help each other on itinerary
