Day 2 : Ahmedabad -Mehsana -Palanpur-Abu Road- Pindwara-Sirohi-(detour for Jawai dam)-Pali-Jodhpur : 465 kms approx
Days 3,4,5 : Jodhpur
Day 6: Jodhpur-Pali-Sanderao-Falna-Sadri-Ranakpur-Sayra(Saira)-Kumbhalgarh : 240 kms approx
Day 7: Kumbhalgarh-Sirohi-Pindwara-Abu Road-Palanpur-Mehsana-Ahmedabad : 445 kms approx
Day 8 : Ahmedabad - Bombay : 529 kms approx

Calling Topolino, gd418, hvk, Fauji,Ramkya1 & sudev to vet!

Hi,

You need not take the Himatnagar route to reach Abu road.

If you are on SG Highway, then head off to Gandhinagar and take a left at Adalaj, before the flyover.

That will take you straight via Mehsana to Palanpur - Abu road.

Do let me know if any additional info required, would be great to meet up. I stay near SG Highway.

I am planning to make a road trip with family in the upcoming vacations season to Gujrat and Rajasthan. The tentative route I have decided is as follows.

Day 1: Mumbai to Ahemadabad (visiting a relative)
Day 2: Ahemadabad sightseeing
Day 3: Ahemadabad to Modhera Sun Temple then to Mount Abu
Day 4: Abu Sightseeing
Day 5: Mount Abu to Ranakpur then to Kumbhalgarh Fort
Day 6: Kumbhalgarh to Udaipur in the morning and the Udaipur sightseeing
Day 7: Udaipur to Vadodara (visiting a relative)
Day 8: Vadodara Sightseeing
Day 9: Vadodara to Mumbai

Strictly no night driving.

Is this route and the days allocated ok or too hectic for a family road trip ?

Shall I stay at Kumbhalgarh or drive straight through to Udaipur after visiting the Fort ? Is the Sound and Light show at Kumbhalgarh Fort really worth ?

Recommendations for accommodation and other places worth visiting are highly welcome.
