re: Hyderabad to Tadoba : Route Queries

It seems that the road conditions for the route Warora-Shegaon BK-Chandankheda-Tamasi RT-Limban Resort-Mudholi-Forest Road-MTDC Road-MTDC Moharli is bad. I have been advised by the hotel to take the Wani-Ghugus-Chandrapur-Mohrali route.

Since you are coming from Hyderabad, makes sense to take Chandrapur route.

You will get to enjoy driving through the forest via Angarzari. Might spot some spotted deer's.

Stop by at Butterfly World Angarzari and Erai Dam Sunset Point.

Tough you wont find any Butterfly in Butterfly World.

Apologies for a little diversion from the main topic. How is the experience in the Canter (Evening) during the months of May and June considering the scorching temperatures ?

re: Hyderabad to Tadoba : Route Queries

I finally completed the long pending trip early this week. Please find the likely best route to Tadoba from Hyderabad i.e. https://goo.gl/maps/dmgGkEwVXVZJTczAA. The road conditions were excellent till Wani. Beyond Wani to Mohrali, the roads conditions were good. A quick detour can be done to Sriram Sagar Project on the way to Tadoba. The place is quite near to the highway and at maximum will take 10 mins.

re: Hyderabad to Tadoba : Route Queries

For going to Moharli from Bangalore, Google map is showing BLR-Hyderabad and then via Karimnagar, Mancherial, Asifabad, Ballarpur and Chandrapur. It should be a 2 lane road, but as per Google, about 30 kms shorter, 50 min faster and Rs 400 cheaper by way of tolls. If any body has taken this route kindly advise the road conditions.

re: Hyderabad to Tadoba : Route Queries

The road after you enter Maharashtra is in a very bad condition right upto Tadoba. You have trucks driving recklessly and there a a lot of pot holes/craters. Take the Hyderabad-Nirmal-Adilabad route. Though longer, it is faster.

re: Hyderabad to Tadoba : Route Queries

We drove from Kochi to Tadoba Andhari reserve in end Feb 2024.
Despite the advise of hydtraveller in the earlier post, from Hyderabad we took the Karimnagar route as suggested by Google. It proved to be a very good alternative to the much travelled NH 44/Adilabad route. We stayed the previous night in Turkapally near Hyderabad. On 27th Feb, left at 0800 and travelled through the 4 lane SH 1 via Siddipet, Karmnagar, Ramagundam till NH 63. 8 kms before Mancherial, the exit to NH 363 comes up. NH 363 which runs all the way to the Telangana Maharashtra border was a delight to drive on. It is a smooth 4 lane newly built highway with 100 km speed limit, show casing the wonderful way Telangana is building the highways. It passes through Bellampalle, bypasses Asifabad and ends past Goregaon at the border and has sparse traffic. The Lakkadkot forest stretch in Maharashtra which was reported to be in a bad condition is now patched up and in a decent condition for a 2 lane forest road till Rajura. Further on the route is through Ballarpur, Chandrapur and till MTDC Moharli, our destination at TATR, where we reached by 1515 hrs, driving 375 kms.

One disadvantage for this route is lack of eating /rest rooms options beyond Karimnagar till Ballarpur. We didn’t encounter any holdups due to truck traffic in the Maharashtra border to Ballarpur section perhaps due to the improved road conditions. SH 1 has a speed limit of 80 kms.

Many thanks for this update. I am riding out of Hyderabad this Friday with wife as pillion. Was wondering which route to take. Now it is decided.

Cheers,

re: Hyderabad to Tadoba : Route Queries

We are driving from Bangalore to TATR in the first week of December, staying at the Waghoba Eco Lodge close to the Khutwanda gate.

As per the suggestions above, the route I propose to take is:

Hyderabad -> Siddipet -> Karimnagar -> Ramagundam -> Asifabad -> Lakkadkot -> Chandapur -> Bhadravati -> Waghoba

Any update on the road conditions or alternate route suggestions would be much appreciated.

Not aware of the condition of above mentioned route. However, in April this year had taken Hyderabad - Adilabad - Karanji - Wani - Warora - Shegaon - Mohrali.

The route past NH44 was good, NH44 did have the usual bad patches in MH.

Thanks, Suhas. Considering this is mostly NH44 and knowing T'Gana roads are generally very good, I'll take a decision closer to the travel dates.

Re: Hyderabad to Tadoba : Route Queries

Back from an exhilarating trip to TATR. I'll be posting a separate thread on that. We took the NH44 route from Hyderabad to TATR Khutwanda. To be more explicit:

Hyderabad -> Kamareddy -> Dichpally -> Nirmal -> Adilabad -> Pandharkawada -> Maregaon -> Wani -> Warora -> Shegaon -> Khutwanda

NH44 all the way to the Telengana / Maharashtra border after Adilabad is a dream to drive on. Very little traffic once you leave the outskirts of Hyderabad, 4 wonderfully maintained lanes, green landscape, what more can one ask?

I was dreading the road condition after the border, but we were surprised by the reasonably good condition there too. Some patchwork on the potholes have improved conditions vastly, good enough to maintain high speeds. After Pandharkawada, we left NH44 and moved on to country roads which were quite good too all the way to Shegaon. After that the roads are not good, but that is only the last 15-18 kms.

This would be the default recommended route, unless conditions change.
