Its called the Tilari route. Shahir has mentioned this in the Panaji Belgaum routes thread.

And it is Dodamarg instead of donamarg.

Very tempting Sahir. Especially since there are a few Indica's there. But something like Spitfires Classic would be very apt for this journey.

Ashish you need to check all the Goa route threads to get an idea of the Tillari ghat conditions in fair weather. Sahir has posted some great pics on that too. All the best.

Looks we can do a fair bit of offroading on this road.
But the waterfall is looking very nice.

How did Wagon R manage this? I am stumped by its awesome GC.

Actually there is small village here on this route. No make that a cluster of about a dozen small houses with a population of about 40-50 odd people. Just about after the tea stall. Its about 5 kms internal. It only has a small path to get there. There are a couple of bullock carts in this village and they have an area around their houses they use for farming.

We drove in to this village quite by mistake trying to see how the Classic behaves on an uncharted path. The whole village was out to see us. The first vehicle to ever get there!!!

It was great fun. This was sometime in 2002 when the road was still in a better condition then today. Or was it??

Thats what I feel too. However it's only 8 kms but you need a good vehicle I think. Like a gypsy maybe.

I would recomend you to take the Belgaum - Tilari - Goa route.
PM me if you want to do this route, & i will guide you to some great spots in Tilari.
I cannot comment the time taken to do the chorla route as I stopped enroute many a times for some views.

Please add those on here. Would be very helpful indeed. How about adding them to the Tilari Ghat route thread?

And I have been to Tilari ghat quite a lot in the past. From messing with those Karanataka Police/Excise whatever guys sitting atop on those stools collecting "toll" from vehicles to losing my helmet to the valley below. I have seen a bit. But I believe there is a lot more.

@Sahir.kittur You are a gutsy fellow to venture on this route in a Wagon R. Was it by design or by accident? Good that the vehicle did not got stuck in the muck.
I think you need a 4WD to tackle such roads in Monsoon.

Great pictures boss and the big waterfall is really a delight to ones eyes. I really wonder you travelled in such road conditions in a Wagon R. I really appreciate your courage, driving skills and patience. However looking at the pictures I feel the feast to the eyes was worth all the trouble. In fact even I have travelled to Goa from Belgaum via the Amboli route and Anmod route but never by the route given by you

Great going mate. I miss my hometown so much...can't believe its been more than 6 months I last visited. We took this route in the late 90's in our Splendours, RX 100s and RD 350s and what fun it was. The small eateries on the way and the isolated roads make it a heavenly experience.

NH4A is a good option. It has some amazing sections and driving there is a great experience.
