Re: Accidents : Vehicles catching Fire in India

Saw this Creta go up in smoke in DLF Phase 5 last weekend. The before/after pictures are 45 mins apart. I did observe it was wearing Venue rims and possibly had other aftermarket (electrical?) add ons.

Re: Accidents : Vehicles catching Fire in India

A bus caught fire on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway on Saturday 27.04.24 morning with 36 passengers (35+1 including the driver) on board. The fire was caused by a tyre burst and short circuit reportedly. Luckily, all the passengers escaped miraculously without any injuries. At 7:30 am near Adhe village in Maval, while moving it caught fire. The bus was travelling from Mumbai to Kolhapur.

Teams of State Highway Police, IRB, Traffic Police, and Fire Brigade immediately rushed to the spot and extinguished the flames. They have done a good job. Videos of the bus engulfed in fire, with thick plumes of smoke rising into the sky were circulating on various social media platforms. vehicular movement on the Expressway was halted for sometime.

Re: Accidents : Vehicles catching Fire in India

Saw a Whatsapp forward in which an influencer was warning about water bottle as a fire hazard in a car. I didn't believe him and started searching for an authentic source to disapprove this assumption. But, to my surprise there are so many videos on YouTube, some from news channels which demonstrate that a water bottle can cause fire in a car. Unbelievable.

Interesting information. Thank you for sharing it.

I think the issue would arise if a plastic water bottle is kept in direct sunlight. What about storing water in a thermos or a non-plastic bottle?

Forget about other containers, this issue will not be there if the water bottle is covered with stickers. It is due to the bottle acting like a convex lens.

Looks like the smart hybrid one where the under passenger seat battery could have caused the problem. Quality problem I fear.

Seemingly after the Nanos catching fire other brands vehicles catching fire is no more an issue.

Looks like a strong hybrid, only 3 spark plug coils can be seen as observed.
Grand Vitara is regularly making fire accident headlines same like Baleno.

Electric bus went into 2 feet water on road, water entered battery as a result short circuit & fire. Luckily no one was injured. Happened somewhere near Bangalore.
