Luckily the bus was empty and not moving somewhere with passengers.

This company JBM has got a contract in January 2023 to supply 5,000 electric buses to various states.

Re: Accidents : Vehicles catching Fire in India

Personally my biggest fear. Hope it’s not an EV on charge. Sad that some lives were lost.

Additional Fire Divisional Officer (ADFO) of Goregaon Somnath Bhaye said that the fire broke out in one of the vehicles that had been parked in the stilt parking area of the building and soon, engulfed the entire SRA structure through the lift.

EVs most likely are not involved, otherwise the media would have created a huge campaign. The fire started from old rags.

Quote:
Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire originated in the stilt parking area, where a significant pile of unattended rags lay. Adding to the chaos, the building's lift had been non-functional for several months, leaving the staircase as the sole escape route. Unfortunately, the staircase was already filled with smoke due to the burning rags, trapping residents inside.

These clothes had been stored in the stilt parking area, contributing to the rapid spread of the fire, which damaged four cars and 39 two-wheeler vehicles.

Re: Accidents : Vehicles catching Fire in India

Happened the day before yesterday in Central Nagpur on a flyover. The aggregator's cab, a Swift Tour caught fire. Luckily there were no passengers. The driver moved out in the nick of time.

Re: Accidents : Vehicles catching Fire in India

The end was adventurous.

It is better to let the car burn than opening the hood like this and trying to extinguish it.

It would be a total loss in both the situations.

An ICE scooter going by the report here. Caught fire near the SNDT college campus in Pune. The report further says that fuel was leaking and caused the fire.

Gajanan Pathrudkar, Fire Station Officer, PMC Kothrud Fire Station, said “The two wheeler vehicle caught fire around 12:40 pm on Wednesday near SNDT College. As soon as we got the information, 2 fire vehicles from Kothrud & Erandwane fire stations reached the spot. The fire was easily doused within some time. As the metro station was nearby, they provided fire extinguishers. No one was injured in this.”

A runaway car on fire in capital city of Trivandrum.

The driver jumped out, once he noticed the fire and this lead to the car to have a free run through busy stretch of road. Luckily some brave souls managed to get it to a stop using bricks once the car slowed down after hitting other vehicles.

Its a Maruti Omni.
None is reported hurt by the incident

Re: 2023 Tata Nexon.EV Review

A brand new Tata Nexon Creative S plus caught fire, very scary. TATA has to seriously work on QC and have it sorted, it is high time they take the people of India seriously. Sorry if I am very critical, but we are taking about TATA's QC lapse for years now.

Unfortunately, here is another recent fire incident. Wish the manufacturer comes out with details of what caused these fires.

Re: Accidents : Vehicles catching Fire in India

A truck transporting fireworks from Tamil Nadu to Bahraich in Uttar Pradesh caught fire late Tuesday night, according to officials. The incident occurred in Khargi Kheda village of Purva Kotwali in Unnao district U.P., where the truck was engulfed in flames, causing fireworks to shoot out and light up the sky. Locals captured the dramatic scene on video. The truck remained ablaze for over three hours before firefighters managed to extinguish the flames. The cause of the fire remains unknown, and there have been no reports of injuries.

We are yet to wake up and enforce strict safety guidelines on inflammable material being transported. Such commercial vehicles in most cases dont carry even fire extinguishers to douse flames. The enormity of this fire incident was gigantic to be controlled by fire extinguishers though. For safe carriage of fireworks and explosive substances there needs to be a statutory enactment enumerating in built, state of the art fire safety packaging and handling also defining the vehicle specifications of vehicles that transport these. Presently there are laws but which agency enforces them? Enforcement is often to extract bribes and let go wrongdoers.

Found this on the Tribunenews site today, thought it would compliment this thread.

What model of Scorpio do you think it could be? Was it a fault with the vehicle, or simply bad maintanence?
