I had no idea there is even such a brand of EVs in the market

Shocking incident in Hyderabad resulting in deaths this time. https://www.ndtv.com/hyderabad-news/...ndtv_topscrollThe brand is Gemopai. Considering the frequency with which we were witnessing 2 wheelers catching fire It was just a matter of time this happened.

I have been working on device drivers for phones, from the 90s. To see dozens of people wander aimlessly capturing videos of the fire, standing in the way of the fire department people, makes me bitter happy. Its great that smart phones have a great reach, and can do other great things, but its sad that it also comes with this much abuse. This car could explode, and land all these people in the emergency room. When you cant help, give way, get out of there. What are they going to do with this video? If not for their phones, would they have gone this close to the fire?

I also feel sad when the selfie seekers fall to their deaths. What did I become a part of creating? A monster?

Re: Accidents : Vehicles catching Fire in India

A truck caught fire on 27-28 October '22 intervening night on the Mumbai Pune Expressway, within the Adoshi tunnel and was fully charred. However, the good news is that there were no casualties as the driver and cleaner instantly ejected from the truck.
The fellow traffic users immediately alerted the fire department and the control room, who thereafter took charge. The traffic was stopped by the rural police between 2.00 and 3.30 am here as a precautionary measure.

The truck could have surely been carrying inflammable material and proper precautions might have not been taken by all concerned. Its however too early to comment as the investigations are continuing.

Re: Accidents : Vehicles catching Fire in India

Happened yesterday but the good news is that the occupants escaped any serious injuries. Hats off for the owner who still uses an Ambassador, despite the locust like swarm of several car brands and models.

This happened so close to my place. Few buildings away. There were police on the scene and the car was rather burning for quite a while. It is also close to a police station so maybe that is how the police got there first. I don't think anybody got hurt but couldn't find any references in media or elsewhere as to what really happened. There were videos shot and circulated on whatsapp and it went viral here in the area real quick.

Also a few weeks ago there was a car burning on the eastern express highway in Mumbai near the point where after crossing the airoli bridge people take a right towards eastern express highway to JVLR. This was late evening during heavy traffic and peak hours. Not sure which car as it was completely on flames however it looked like a Tata car from the shape of what was remaining and still on fire. These incidents are increasing here in Mumbai at least. Wondering what is causing them and also difficult to find references in media. Looks like it isn't lucrative to report these in mainstream media.

So, not only EVs that catch fire. How many BMWs are on the road in India? May be a lakh or lakh and a half? and every 3 months one burns like this.

EV Caught fire in Hyderabad Numaish- Which car is it?

Electric Vehicle catches fire in Hyderabad Numaish, an annual heritage fair that starts on 1st January every year till mid February. The burnt EV gutted another 4 cars around it and partially damaging 6 more. The fire could not be controlled as the cars were packed too close to each other. There is no mention of the car gutted in it. I initially thought it to be a Nexon EV, but article says an 'upmarket car' that brings me to premium brands. Is it a HYUNDAI KONA?

Car that seems to be in the picture that is pulled forward seems to be a Maruti Baleno, but the car behind is not visible.

What car may be it, because it seems to be compact in size.
