A lot of youtubers do this and have lakhs of followers. Some of them blurr out the speedo when it crosses 3 digits for this particular reason. Hope they stop this nuisance.

Treat the blurring as destruction of evidence and charge them with that.

Re: Bad Drivers - How do you spot 'em

Scooter who took the turn did use the indicator, but did not look if someone is coming or not. Another scooter dashed into him, seemingly thinking the scooter crossing will look before crossing and would stop. After the crash the guy was saying he had his indicators on! If it would have been a larger vehicle, then he wouldn’t be there to argue I feel. The other scooter could have easily braked too, but does not look like that rider did not want to stop at all!

Absolutely right!

He had no right whatsoever to turn out across the road. Moving off from the kerb without looking is stupid enough: this is double stupid.

But, for the biker who actually has the right of way, why is he heading across the other guy? He could very easily have gone behind.

So much this. It's almost as if he *aimed* and wanted to collide. Zero attempt to avoid.

This video ends like a webseries episode. What did the driver of the yellow truck hurtling down the slope do? Was he able to brake in time or avoid the bickering bikers? Please publish next episode.

(Looking at the signboard - is this the Silver Hills-Kovoor road or the Nadakkavu-Chevayoor road?)

Another ignoramus that thinks indicators are an 'watch out, coming through, won't stop!' announcement, not an 'indication' of intent.

Re: Bad Drivers - How do you spot 'em

This was on Trichy - Pudukottai NH

This kiger driver must have been focused on what's at his back as he was waiting to make an U turn into the service lane.

He didn't even check for oncoming traffic before turning the car. I honked and only then he saw my car and stoped mid way, slightly ahead into the opposite lane. Could have gone terribly wrong.

He was looking to his right? Maybe that truck held his attention.

Before lecturing others, I have to admit that I have made this mistake: looking in the wrong direction. It did lead to an accident once too.

Similar behaviour by two different truck drivers.

The car with the dashcam was also in the wrong in the first video, IMO. It's quite dangerous to drive into the exit lane / lay-by without a clear view ahead. Evasive action like how it was done in the second video would've been better.

That's me and I completely agree with you.

But at that point in time I wasn't aware it was an exit lane.
Again, no excuses. Hence I corrected myself second time around.

From seconds 1-5 in that video there is an exit sign visible saying "Service Road Ahead". So if you were not aware, then you should improve your road sign reading skills.

In addition to what has been pointed out already, your cutting in front of the truck from the left was a dangerous manoeuvre too. Better is to slow down and wait for the truck to pass before merging back onto the main carriageway.

In the second video - what is the fault of the truck driver (I can't make out if the indicator of the truck is on or not)? If anyone it is the car's plan of weaving through the traffic that must be faulted?

Next time, look for the evidences.

1. The truck is in your lane and continues to move to the left;
2. The service lane signage is there, so the truck is likely to take that, which is why he is moving left.

You had all of 5 seconds (and more) before your car's front end was about to touch the rear end of the truck - which is enough time to brake and come to a dead stop or crawl. You, however, chose to swerve into the emergency / stopping lane and overtake the truck through his blind spot, from his left (and in the process, driving over the painted triangular island on the road which is not meant to be driven on).

So, you didn't know about how sticking to your lane can be far safer for you and other road users. Without explaining things, the government keeps harping about "Lane driving is sane driving". Now you know why it is safe driving.
