Guess no more ads poking fun at Maruti's safety by Tata now :D

On a serious note, this is a crazy, crazy feat for Maruti. After years of them being the butt of jokes about safety, it's fantastic to see them put some effort into their cars. while I do have a few doubts about BNCAP, I still think this is a commendable achievement. This is a big jump from the 3rd gen DZire - which scored 2 starts for both driver and child safety.

Holy Moly! Are they trying to eat the entire compact sedan space?

A rare product in Indian car scene that checks all the boxes:
Reliable. Affordable. Features. Safety. Fuel Efficiency.

Dzire has always been the Creta of the compact sedan segment, and with this news, I feel they are trying to match Innova like respect.

Take a bow Maruti Suzuki.
RIP boring Honda Amaze, and Odd Looking Hyundai Aura.

This is even bigger news than Hyundai Verna scoring 5 stars.Verna scored 5 stars with "unstable" body structure where as dzire scored with stable body structure. Kudos to Maruti for the achievement!

Vehicle safety game changer for Indian consumers.

It is because the so-called “Heart-Attack” platform (Heartect-B) is actually an advanced dual load path design that does not use the door to transfer force rearwards. That means even if one of the load paths fails it will be penalised for instability. It is designed to use higher-grade 980 MPa steel which was not locally available in India until recently.

Now in separate interviews in Japan, Suzuki engineers have confirmed that they are now able to locally source 980 MPa steel in India. But I understand that the original design of the new Swift in Japan uses a different grade of eco-friendly 1GPa+ cold-pressed steel that is replacing hot stamping in many new Japanese cars.

Thank you Maruti & Mr. Nitin Gadkari. This is a great news! What remains to be seen is how proactively Maruti brings safety to the rest of its lineup. I can already see how formidable the most favorite and trusted car brand in India have become.

Hot Damn! I never ever thought I'd live to see this day. And now thanks to Maruti's making even their cars safer, I might live a few more than I would have anyway! :O

Who'd have thought? Well done Maruti and many kudos to you for owning up (in action, if not in words) and doing the right thing. Beware Hyundai and Tata. Cometh the giant.

Maruti produced a kick-ass looking car with a 5-star safety rating!? The first thing that came to my mind was this "sleeping giant" meme.

The only thing which kept us away from Maruti. We badly wanted a swift but stayed away from it due to safety aspect alone.

Kudos Maruti!!!

Cancelling our XUV3xo booking. Dzire may not be comfortable as the C-SUV but a 5 star car from Maruti is very hard to ignore.

Good job by Maruti. This turns a page in their automotive journey. Hope this translates to other models as well soon.

Another good thing is that they tested the India specific model this time and tested both old and new dzire and there is a clear change in safety of the new car.

Old Dzire Fact sheet - Adult - 2/5 rating Child - 2/5 rating

New Dzire fact sheet - Adult -5/5 rating Child - 4/5 rating

2024 Suzuki Dzire receiving a 5-star rating in Global NCAP is like the tortoise finally winning the race—sure, it's a nice surprise, but we all know it took way longer than it should have!

Thats a bunny out of the hat by Maruti. Till now they had an image of being the people's car with least regards to safety and now this achievement is a feather in the cap. It waits to be seen if the rest of the Maruti lineup will be in the line for getting on the Dzire platform to be rated 5 stars on safety.

This could also mean that the model may slowly become dearer from price point and could see the sales numbers dropping.

quick Maruti take my money!!!!

This is great from Maruti! Hopefully, they realized that smaller and flimsier cars were the thing of the past and moving on to more sturdier cars and still managing to achieve the same FE figures is the trick to move forward! Kudos to them.

Wondering whether this protruding central tunnel would have had any part to play in the structural sturdiness of the new Dzire. I am not sure if the current gen Dzire has a similar central tunnel or does it have a near flat floor. I have hardly been in one - thus request the existing owners to confirm.
