Re: 2024 Maruti-Suzuki Dzire achieves 5-Star rating in the Global NCAP

Watershed Moment in the History of the Indian Auto Industry

I believe the previous biggest moment in India's car segment was when Mr TATA announced a 1 lac Nano.

We all have collectively criticized MSIL the most for skipping on safety and rightly so. There were times when we have gone overboard and criticized them more than any other OEM simply because they were the biggest. Happy to have contributed to the overall noise to ensure they were able to hear us.

As someone said, to do it on a 900 kg car is outstanding. If there is one thing MSIL is good at, it is to ensure that prospective customers are made aware of anything that they do. They are simply going to rock the Dzire sales and deservedly so.

As of this moment, I will put MSIL back on the list of brands on my shortlist when I shop for my next car.

PS: My Deepest respect and heartfelt gratitude to TATA for pushing every other OEMs for safer cars in the mass market segment.

5 Star Safety Rating for New Suzuki Dzire

According to Autocar India, New Maruti Suzuki #Dzire scores a 5-star
From GlobalNCAP Safety rating for adult occupant protection and 4 stars for child occupant protection. This is Maruti Suzuki's first 5 star rated car

Re: 5 Star Safety Rating for New Suzuki Dzire

Yes, this indeed is true. The Global NCAP website has updated the test results in its website:

https://www.globalncap.org/news/new-...voluntary-test

This could be a game changer for safety in India. Hopefully, all Maruti Suzuki cars would eventually be 5-star rated.

I am literally mind blown!! I had to read the thread title twice to confirm it is a Maruti Dzire that has scored 5*. I hope they replicate this on their other models as well and make safety features standard across models.

Wow. This is unbelievable. When I saw the news, first thing I checked was whether it is a spoof article. With safety rating ticked, I hope MS brings powerful engines and sporty models to Indian market.

Unbelievable ! So Maruti doesn't want to meet our govt safety standards any more ? Hope we get other cars from their stable tested. Now to Hyundai !

Re: 5 Star Safety Rating for New Suzuki Dzire

So will this be the end of Tata again?

IMHO the reason Tata cars are selling so much is because of their really good designs and safety ratings and nationalist pride to some extent (but those buyers can easily go to Mahindra).

Other than that I don't see any other factor,be it reliability, service or fit and finish which can sway people towards Tata.

This might not affect Tata a lot because Tigor is anyways not selling a lot but as more manufacturers start taking safety ratings seriously, it will definitely hurt them big time.

Brilliant. Now MSIL boasts of 0-5 star rated cars, cheap hatches, sedans, SUVs, AWD, 4WD, hybrids, turbocharged 1.0L and an upcoming EV. What a range of portfolios!

Re: 2024 Maruti-Suzuki Dzire achieves 5-Star rating in the Global NCAP

Finally we will have a safe taxi available for ferries.

Many are surprised with the rating but I am not because historically Swift has been able to achieve respectable scores in Euro NCAP so there was no reason for Indian variants to not do the same. But we always got inferior copies with striped down structure.

Only thing required was Maruti ditching their mentality of cheating Indians by replacing the crucial structural components with the inferior grade components. They finally did it and results are here.

Good to see the Indian automobile scene is maturing beyond false and rigged claims of FE.

Re: 2024 Maruti-Suzuki Dzire achieves 5-Star rating in the Global NCAP

That's a masterstroke by Maruti! I guess the additional airbags + electronic aids have contributed significantly as the extent of body damage looks scary in side impact and pole tests. But I don't think it matters as long as the structure underneath is safe.

Slightly OT but why is Global NCAP still testing cars now that the Bharat NCAP is in place?

Re: 2024 Maruti-Suzuki Dzire achieves 5-Star rating in the Global NCAP

Maruti has been constantly losing its market share and has been actively taking steps to catch up with the competition. We could see that first with Baleno, when it was feature packed to compete with Hyundai, and now they have taken steps to get rid of the tin can tag.

They are looking at the top 5 in the industry and might have realized that they are losing market to Tata and Mahindra, and the tin can image is a big factor for this. Its interesting to note that they voluntarily sent the car for testing in spite of all the resistance they have shown to G-NCAP in the past.

What a news!

The giant has finally decided to wake up from his slumber. Tough times ahead for the koreans and the Germans.

Kudos to the product design team.

Re: 5 Star Safety Rating for New Suzuki Dzire

This is going to cause ripples in all the car buyers mind and their discussions. For long Maruti has got the 'Tin Can' card, but this is a game changer. There are a few famous you tubers who say the global ncap is not reliable. Even if its true or false, Dzire gaining 5 stars is a great news. MS is not going to lose the pole position in this decade for sure.

Re: 2024 Maruti-Suzuki Dzire achieves 5-Star rating in the Global NCAP

This is a welcome move by Maruti. In a recent study, it was mentioned that 1 in 3 new car buyers cite safety as a primary determinant of new car purchase. So, Maruti would tick the safety considerations for Dzire 2024 model from here on.

Hopefully, we can see 6 air bags, ESP and other 5-star safety parameters on other variants of Maruti soon.

Safety together with Maruti's reliability could be a game changing moment in the industry. Especially, for Tata Motors.
