The first pic seems like that of Elevate. They have added the headrest for rear centre passenger. Elevate is a strict 4 seater, but still it helps to have a headrest for a thin centre passenger.

This makes Elevate VX one of the most VFM variant in its price range.

Its a welcome move and certainly Honda has made the right decisions by adding the necessary safety features in all the variants. Going forward HONDA definitely looks like they are in the game and are staying in for the long haul.

The V variant of Elevate now makes a lot of sense especially if budget is around 16 lacs (eating into the compact SUV space)

Re: Honda City & Elevate now get 6 airbags as standard

I think the Elevate is the first Honda sold here to get the secondary buckle type seatbelt with the retractor mounted in the roof (a la Grand Vitara/Hycross). In any case, that and the standard airbags means the two most obvious hurdles the Elevate could face in consumer safety tests are cleared.

The reminders in the City are quite interesting as in Mexico (and much of Southeast Asia) the City has a small panel with seatbelt icons under the AC controls, but in India it seems to be in the instrument cluster like in global Hondas. Maybe it’s because the TFT cluster is not standard in other markets.

I’m quite impressed at the amount of safety spec one gets in even the base+1 City, including the full Honda Sensing 1.0 suite. It’s almost on par with any modern global car, save for some small details like the rear outboard seats not being i-Size compatibile (which is strange, as Citys made elsewhere are).

Re: Honda City & Elevate now get 6 airbags as standard

Definitely it will help to boost sales. This is high time Honda should introduce either Sub 4 meter or full-size SUV (may be CR-V) to stay relevant to current trend. One of my friends confused between Elevate VX MT and ZX MT variants. Now she happily goes for VX MT Variant.

Excellent move from Honda. Safety first is the slogan they shout with this move. Should help them to boost monthly numbers. As such launch of Elevate has definitely elevated interest of prospective customers to consider Honda.

Re: Honda City & Elevate now get 6 airbags as standard

Good on Honda to finally wake up and smell the coffee. It was a horrendous decision to launch Elevate in this day and age without six airbags as standard in the price bracket of 10-20 lakhs. Heck, even Maruti Suzuki offers six airbags as standard for cars which costs much less !!

I have had friends who were looking forward to buy the Elevate but backed off seeing missing safety equipments and features in the lower variants while only the top variant got them. They shifted to Kia and happily bought Seltos instead.

Safety is now taken seriously by Indian customers and I am glad that Honda realised it before it was too late. City is still the workhorse that it was but the real difference will be felt in the sales numbers of Elevate with this move. So, I would say, much welcome move by Honda.

I was eyeing on the City as an upgrade. VX made more sense to me purely for the 6 airbags. Now that even SV has it, I would go for the SV variant. I can simply add fog lamps. I can live without cruise control.

Elevate is doing decent numbers but really a lack lustre car and once the novelty wears off will settle down to three digit numbers. Very poor power delivery and highway drive is a struggle. wonder why could not have more power.

It is an NA petrol engine. It does what it can do, better than others in the same category of vehicles. Dont expect it to win drag races. It is a comfortable highway machine for all practical purposes.

There is a big dividing line between winning drag races and a comfortable overtake speed. May be, this also varies from one to another, depending one's driving experience.
So each according to his or her own. What is practical for one is underperformer and an opportunity missed for another.

Re: Honda City & Elevate now get 6 airbags as standard

A very welcome move indeed, and a step in the right direction. The roof-mounted seatbelt retractor looks a bit strange, just like in the Hyundai Alcazar. However, safety takes precedence over all others, and so this is to be commended. All these continue to make the Elevate one of the most value-for-money cars in India today. Better late than never, Honda !
