Brilliant effort by Mahindra for securing 4 stars for Thar. For a body on frame vehicle, this is a great result. Driver protection could have been little better, but all in all Kudos to Mahindra for delivering on another safer vehicle for India.

This comes in at a time the market leaders are only offering excuses for safety and Maruti is planning to not send any cars for testing.

Indeed remarkable for a ladder frame humble SUV. A very high score on child safety rating too, seems like the highest points for it in Indian context. Our home grown boys Mahindra and Tata are indeed walking the talk on safety. Kudos to them.

Hope the so called market leader and the ones just below the rung are listening and start to bend over backwards than just fighting it out on Twitter.

This also shows who are the prospective buyers in the TG of Mahindra for the Thar.

Since, those seats at the back are most suited to kids only.

Kudos to Mahindra for this. This is a body style which has typically fared very poorly in crash tests. To make it pass with flying colours is indeed a great achievement.

WOW! From the twitter pic itself you can see there is no buckling around the A-pillar unlike say, Scorpio in the past.

Mahindra can expect even more orders (and delays). Honestly never thought this coming from the Thar. I would now be extremely curious about Harrier's rating.

Mahindra (and Tata) have their heart in the right place. What remains to be seen is - how well they are able to position themselves in the heart and mind of the customers to capture incremental market share.

Specifically for Thar, seems they have pulled all the right strings and the market will continue to reward this beast. Kudos to Mahindra for overhauling their game in response to Tata. A great example of how healthy competition can lead to better products.

Lastly, to those manufacturers who should not be named - This is how you do it! Undoubtedly Indian manufacturers can learn a lot from you on refinement, interiors and bling. But you in return have a lot to catchup on when it comes to building safe products.
