Man offers to park the car; robs and kills woman According to a media report, Navi Mumbai police have claimed to have solved a daylight murder of a 56-year-old woman. Ulwe resident, Ashok Kumar Konar has been arrested and he was found to be driving a stolen vehicle. The police say that he also has car-theft cases registered against him.
The report suggests that Uran resident Balkrishna Bhagat reached Bank of Maharashtra in Ulwe’s Sector 19. He entered the bank while his wife Prabhavati waited in the car. It is said that the AC was running and hence the car's keys were in the ignition. Ashok Kumar saw the woman sitting alone in the car and said that the car had to be parked a little ahead. The woman agreed and Ashok Kumar took the car to a secluded spot in Ulwe’s Sector 23.
Ashok then took out a gun and demanded all the gold ornaments from Prabhavati. When she resisted, he shot her in the chest and took her gold mangalsutra and earrings. He then went back to his stolen car which was parked near the bank.
Passersby noticed the woman lying in blood and called the cops, who took her to Apollo Hospital in Belapur, where she was declared dead on arrival. The police scanned the CCTV footage from the bank and nearby shops and tracked the stolen car's registration number. Ashok was nabbed in Kharghar. Source |
