re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

Hello All,

11 pilgrims from Gujarat die in a road accident in Rajasthan.

A jeep carrying pilgrims from Gujarat to Ramdewara - a religious site in Jaisalmer district collided head-on with a truck coming from opposite direction. 11 people including 2 women & two children died in this accident & deveral others are seriously injured.

I wonder what makes people rush to religious places without worrying about their safety & well-being?

Thanks,
Sad news. May their souls find peace and the survivors the strength to bear with their loss.

I'm guessing that it's a hired vehicle (like a toofan) and for the driver, it's just another day at work. Tough luck.

QFT. Now insurance companies will have to foot a 3-4 crore bill for the damages to the cars. Nobody was hurt, so matter will die as is.

Dear All saw this CRV on the opposite side of my Sector's police station and this White Fluidic Verna also outside the station today morning. I really feel sorry that Verna because even after the deployed air bags the driver has been hurt as stains can be seen on driver's door.

thanks

A biker lost his life when he fill in a ditch. He sustained head injuries only and no other injuries on the body. He was not wearing helmet. One person on his morning walk noticed the body and the bike and altered the police.

Again a precious life lost just because of sheer negligence. Ample number of similar incidents have still not been able to put people's mind on track with road safety. In my personal view the 2 wheeler drivers should be extra cautious of their reflexes and safety because in comaprison to car drivers the 2 wheeler drivers are at higher risk of being injured/seriously hurt on any given road mishap.

thanks

This is very unfortunate. This is a clear case of negligence by the authorities. Off late the various agencies have been making a mess of the roads and keeping them in that manner for a long time.

The concerned exec. engineer, work inspector and the contractor must be found guilty and punished. Shame on them for ending a life in this manner

Since anyone with basic common-sense can make out what happened here and who the driver was, does it really matter whether the press hushes this up or not ?
The first bell rings when you see the car being owned by a Reliance company. The next one rings when you factor in the portly part.
Hopefully the Audi / Corolla owners would be compensated fairly for the loss and that would be it. Good that no lives were lost here.

Thats a gruesome murder by the munuicipal authorities. Open uncovered ditch without any side barricades and no warning signs is a sureshot sign for danger. Pity that the biker couldnt call for any help or else he would have been alive, I guess he must have hit and passed out and died by drowning.

Police said Ashok rammed his bike into a barricade kept in front of the drain and both fell into it.

NO ACTION AGAINST CONTRACTOR

What will happen if action is taken against the contractor and engineer? If anything happens in the city, the BBMP is blamed for it. But development work has to happen. I've called for a meeting of officers and the commissioner. Any compensation to be given will be decided there.

All classic recipes of disaster are shouting out in this unfortunate case:
1. Biker without a helmet
2. Huge ditch and no barricades
3. Possibly no warning signs

When would authorities understand the basics? When would we start valuing our lives? I am not sure how the person died but, I doubt the helmet would have helped in case of him drowning.
BBMP and the contractors need to be sued for this and made to pay big time. That crater is huge, no where in the world it would be left like that. Just because of negligence on the officials part a family has been destroyed and they will never be the same again.

I don't fear dying, everyone dies but wasting a precious life on the road is simply not tolerable and India is the leader in that respect.

Off Topic from this case but related to Indian roads in general:

Last Friday, I was watching this series where a man started to look for the killer truck which crushed 2 young men (one his son and the other his son's friend). The episode clearly showed that the trucks overload and increase their braking distance, drivers are drunk & callous on the road. The Police simply choose to wash their hands off by putting them as a Hit and Run case. Sad sate of affair in our country.
