10 people in a car?? Clearly seems like a case of overloading and losing control while negotiating a curve. Since they were heading to the railway station, might have been in hurry too. People here would never learn how a vehicle's handling, braking and dynamics change even with the addition of one more person, they could at least bother to drive slow.

Article says 6 adults and 4 children and doesn't mention which car. If the car in question is an MPV, this is not a case of overloading beyond the limits of the car. Its unlikely that the combined weight of 3 men, 3 women and 4 children would exceed the weight of 8 men, which would be the seating capacity for an MPV.

Also, no where in the article did they mention that it was a case of fast driving. If the bridge didn't have side rails, even a small error in judgement can cause the vehicle to fall over the edge, especially when there are bends. You need not be driving fast.

Quote from the news article:
Quote:
Four children, including two girls, three women and three men lost their lives in the mishap which took place near Ramdas village.

According to police, the family, which was returning from a marriage function, was headed to Ramdas Railway Station when mishap struck.

The vehicle fell into the waters when the person at the wheel lost control trying to negotiate the bend on a small bridge over the canal.
There was an instance in Kerala a while back, when a jeep carrying school children had a narrow escape, when it almost fell off at a curve in a bridge without side rails - one of the front wheels went beyond the edge of the bridge. Luckily, the driver realized it and stopped immediately and all children escaped through the rear door. Reading this report reminded me of that incident.

I just hope to be proven wrong here.

Not sure, but, slightly open driver door (noticed that rear door is shut) could hint towards a miracle.

Unfortunately my earlier assumption turned out to be true.

May the departed soul R.I.P.

Could you find any more details on how the car landed up in such a situation?

Glad you are doing fine Nandu. Good that you promptly went and picked up the knee armor. Hope the helmet did not suffer any dings. If it did, please replace it asap. Get well soon

Somewhere near Salem. Punto was doing triple digits and hit a Tata Safari head on. Guys in Punto were being irresponsible by not wearing seat belts but still they walked out with minor injuries. No cabin intrusion for an Active trim which has thinner front impact beam.

Always wear a seatbelt!

Another ST bus catches fire at Vadodara, no casualties fortunately!

Quote:
As many as 29 passengers of a state transport bus had a narrow escape when the bus caught fire because of sparks in its engine, with the fire spreading rapidly because of the CNG kit fitted in it. The incident took place on city's Kamatibaug road at around 11.15 am on Wednesday, when the bus was headed for Dabhoi from city's Nizampura bus depot.

After detecting smoke coming out from the front engine of the bus, the driver asked the passengers to rush out of it. Soon after the whole bus burst out in flames, gutting belongings that they had left behind in the bus.

Another bad case of drunken driving rampage. If only such people had the brains, that drinking and driving don't mix, the roads would have been much safer than the mess they are now. And if only the laws would have been much stronger these people wouldn't have got the license to wreak havoc on the roads. The bad part is that the police have only detained the person and sooner or later he will be out on the roads again to kill someone innocent.

Today noticed this Indica (sedan) on fire. Within no time, the car's nose on full flames.

Luckily none were hurt. They could also manage to get their luggage out of car.

Location: opp. Cauvery theatre, while coming from Mekri Circle towards city.

I witnessed this on the way back from college. One of the passengers told me that the indigo just stopped in the middle of the road and the engine bay caught fire! Was also told that the doors were jammed(don't know how true this is). It was a KL registered petrol indigo.

1) Engine is missing oil cap, hot oil spil may have caused fire

2) The IT capital (so called) does not have fire brigades? What do they do with highest tax income in the country?
