re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

Though these are not the pictures at the accident site, they are the WIP pictures of our Omni which rammed into a pillar, causing deformation of the front left side, which took the impact. As the damned driver was alone, no injuries. Also one can see how badly the front is designed. Apart from the front hood panel below the windshield(both removed here), there is not a single cross member to support the chassis except for a crossbar that is used to mount the dash. At least, a cross member below the windshield and above the floor must be present. Also the floor also crumpled. If there was any person in the passenger seat, they would have been injured.

The front left pillar took the hit, transferred it to the door, and the door became a curved sheet of metal. Also, the middle pillar was so weak the force did not end at the door and went ahead crumpling the pillar too.

This happened two months back and the repair took nearly 20 days. However, the service center did an excellent job and brought it back to perfect shape. Though the service center is located in a town, they have all equipment and infrastructure, including a paint booth, chassis aligner, paint mixing machine etc. The TATA service center next to it has a 'paint-booth' made out of curtains and old vinyl banners. Appreciate the quality of work done.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

Saw this yesterday night on DND flyway, Noida. Eyewitness said the Honda City was travelling at a speed in excess of 150 kmph when it suddenly hit the divider and toppled. Luckily, the owner escaped unhurt with not even a single scratch!! Hard to believe, but I myself spoke to him!

This happened a few months ago. This is at the Narsingi-Appa junction. there is a sharp curve slightly ahead and I think this cab dude must have been on the wrong side and crashed into something.

Obviously, the seat-belts/airbag combo saved him.

What is interesting is that the car has taken the roll-over quite well...the roof line seems to be intact after having landed on its roof.

Two IBM engineers were detained by Hulimavu traffic police on Wednesday night for causing a series of accidents at Delmia circle in JP Nagar under the influence of alcohol. Those detained are Vishwanath (40) and Sundar (43), both software engineers at IBM.
The image in the news article quotes "Image for representational purpose only". Hence not posting it.

Typical D&D. Wouldn't have happened if one of them was sober and drove. Going by their age mentioned, they should have been responsible enough. Imagine a "broken spine" for the co-passenger!!

43 years and a broken spine. Well deserved. Best Lesson Learned.
The co-passenger was at equal fault as the driver - For letting a drunk person drive, in-turn putting his own life at risk. I have absolutely no sympathies for such souls.

I have also been drunk.
- During my bachelor life, I never ever sat or rode a bike home after the drinking spree. It always used to be an Auto (not a taxi, because auto was affordable in my salary).
- During my post bachelor life and at a mid-senior level in the company, whenever there are client dinners or team get to-gethers, I always take a taxi home. I think, if I can afford a car, why risk the car and myself by driving drunk. Better pay a good taxi service.

Bottomline - Never Ever Drink n Drive. Never. Period.

Horrible story. That poor idiot will probably remain a cripple for the rest of his life.
What car were they driving? Was it a Sonata Embera or similar?

I really feel sorry for their families. Not only are they a burden on their wives and kids, they also lost a source of income. What a waste of life !

Good thinking. May I add a just little? Why risk the lives and the cars of other roads users?

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

This week one of my colleagues was absent for 2-3 days. He had a bad accident on his motorcycle. Now his entire lower jaw & face is bruised, swollen and bandaged. Barely a few meters from his home, his motorcycle skidded and as the case is usually; he was not wearing a helmet. The result was that he got a bad case of road rash on his entire lower jaw and face. Thankfully no broken jaw or bones, else it would have been worse. If only he had been wearing a full face helmet, then the injuries to the face would have been minimised Some people learn the hard way unfortunately

The reason for posting here is: Please always wear a helmet, even if you go 10mts from your house on your 2 wheeler. You never know what will happen when. Silver lining in the accident - at-least now he says he will wear a helmet!!

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

Hello All,

One more promosing life lost due to pot holes & rash driving.

http://www.pressdisplay.com/pressdisplay/viewer.aspx

A 21 year engineering student, Jaideep Kariur was killed after a truck hit his bike on the Western Express Highway on Wednesday morning at approx 6 am in Goregaon East. The stretch on which the accident took place is pothole-ridden and the family of Jaideep suspect that it may have led to the accident. Jaideep was on his way to Godrej Company where he just joined as an intern trainee.

Dreams shattered.

Thanks,
